The world premiere is indeed from the 70s.

How about the Paramount title Plaza Suite for the premiere?

Nope.

Narrowing the above list down to six films - is it one of these films?

The only game in town
Ash Wednesday
Mr. Sycamore
Two solitudes
The magician of lublin
Winter kills

Maurice Jarre?

Well we do love Maurice Jarre

Fingers crossed for The Professionals. The old CD release was a re-recording and mastered from an LP, so the original soundtrack recording would be a premiere. My favorite Jarre score and long overdue.

Mine too, but 60's Columbia? I'd say that the chances of the original score surviving is close to zero. I'm not so sure the album is all re-recording, I taped the title music from the DVD & it sounded identical to the album to me. I hope they've since found the album masters.

Ash Wednesday

YouTube preview sounds great - hope that you guess is right.
And for another title - Bruce don't say that it was from 70s too.
So, maybe The Night Of The Generals?

I still have the Intrada release of Night Of The Generals & listen to it a lot, a big favourite.

If it is Ash Wednesday, wouldn't the other title on the disc have to be from the Paramount vault also?

Basil, Bruce said that premiere release is from 70s. And we know that it's something from this list:
  • The only game in town
  • The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds
  • Ash Wednesday
  • Mr. Sycamore
  • Mandingo
  • March or die
  • Two solitudes
  • The magician of lublin
  • Winter kills

But he didn't say that re-release score is from 70s too. wink

Yes, and the previously released score is not from the 70s.

I'll guess that one of the two scores on the album will be "The Only Game In Town," particularly with the tie-in to the somewhat recent Twilight Time release.

As for the previously unreleased one, I've no idea at the moment.

Really enjoying the Harline/Bregman double bill - would love more music like this down the road!

How about Jarre's excellent score for RESURRECTION?

    Marvelous film, evocative score.

    Great performances from all concerned.

THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN and TAPS ????

Well, I love both films so if it was this double bill I'd be dancing a jig, let me tell you.
