Every time I think I have finally acquired all of my "grails," something like this comes along. I have the original SCSE release and that has been good enough for as long as it was all there was (not counting the Varese re-recording, which doesn't count), but that and the other fall to the wayside with this new release. The fact that the FSM includes the Barry arrangement of "That Old Feeling" (source from the scene on the boardwalk where Matty and Ned first meet) just puts the cherry on the sundae. Perfect release, inexpressable thanks to LK and company for a super-dandy end-of-summer gift!

The main title sounds like the jazzier material from Howard The Duck. And that is by no means a bad thing.

I'm seriously going to have to think about this.

See the film first and you won't have to think about it for long!

With a little more disposable income I'd buy it right here and now! big grin Seems like I'm going to have to allocate some funds.

This CD will save people a lot of money on their heating bills this winter.

Yes, but it may initiate another "baby boom," which is a hell of a lot more expensive!

Another Barry for my collection.

If you haven't seen the film, do so. It's fantastic, and a great showcase for Barry's score.

The original LP mix sounded godawful. Like, horrid.

Wow, guess I am the only one to say this, but this is not a great score by Barry for me and the LP and previous CD (though it is not the right mix) are good enough for me to represent the score in my Barry section.

For future guessing purposes, does this complete the FSM John Barry catalog?

Oh, I do hope not!

There are several releases (or remastered, reconfigured releases) many of us would like ...

... top of my list is his magnificent score to The Tamarind Seed.

I can hope.

In the meantime I can look forward to adding this new release to my collection.

Mitch

Wow, away for a week, come back & this! My first FSM purchase for a good long while. I was kicking myself for not buying the CD all those years ago, but it was expensive, £17 or £18. With this & Barry White on the hi-fi you'd have to be Quasimodo not to score cool

I guess they found those tapes.

Hey, one man's trash is another man's treasure. Hard to imagine anyone not loving BODY HEAT, but then I may also be the only guy here who doesn't give a crap about CONAN (any version thereof).

Well, I can not wait for Intrada to release CONAN. I was just surprised that with the number of FSM releases there are left, they release BODY HEAT? I figured their last releases would blow everyone out of the water!

Well, there seems to be quite a few people in this thread who have been blown away.

I'm really happy about this release. BODY HEAT is one of my four favourites from Barry's last three decades and the only one out of these that had not had a proper, generally available release yet. This release was overdue for a long time. Thank you, Lukas. smile

I've only got the Varese recording of this and I'm happy to purchase this one. I do suspect though that the ~64kbps sound clips probably aren't doing it any favors.

THANK YOU FSM for this as this has to be one of John Barry's finest Scores. I just wish he would have been here to see this released as he wanted it and more.

Still can't get over it and so glad this is out. Truly a Big Bang of a release in my book. There are two more releases left by FSM till closing time or so Lukas says. Maybe he'll change his mind and keep the label going perhaps with fewer releases or so I'm hoping. I'm trying to think what other two score releases would make FSM's exit big news again. I can't think of any at the moment and I'm sure there are plenty. Body Heat would have been, and is, and certainly has made big news. Perhaps another Barry? Why not. Which one? Many Barry tittles need to be released. Salamander by Goldsmith? I think Lukas said no Goldsmith and no Williams. Bernstein? Golden Age, Silver Age? Alex North's complete Spartacus' score in glorious stereo? I don't know. Whatever these final two FSM releases might be, I trust Lukas will deliver as he has been doing since the first FSM release.

Thanks again for Body Heat...

Fantastic. I really hoped to see BODY HEAT as one of the final three FSM releases, but never dreamed that it would be a 2 CD affair. Other than Bernard Herrmann's complete OBSESSION, I'd say that BODY HEAT was at the top of my want list (although I have the old Lasher LP, CD, and the McNeely rerecording). Thanks to Lucas and SAE.

This CD is looking sexier than Kathleen Turner in the movie.
