Several of the prominent composer names which stand out as NOT represented are John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith (which Bruce has already eliminated), Herbert Stothart (highly unlikely), Miklos Rozsa, David Raksin, Victor Young and Hans Salter (represented only in the "Monster" stock score), and Jerry Fielding. There are probably a few others I've missed.

We can thus eliminate Williams (living), and Goldsmith---but still have Stothart, Rozsa, Young, Salter, and Fielding---plus who else??? I'd eliminate Stothart immediately (what valuable CD has gone out-of-print?).....

I suspect this score is by David Raksin (but what could the expensive oop CD be??) or Jerry Fielding.

My best guess is a new release of Fielding's THE WILD BUNCH, with something else as the premiere score. (But there's probably another composer I haven't even thought of..... frown )

I've thought of a few more deceased "Hollywood" composers to add onto the list:

• David Buttolph
• George Duning
• Jerry Fielding
• Jerry Goldsmith
• Leigh Harline
• Michael Kamen
• Jerome Moross
• Basil Poledouris
• David Raksin
• Leonard Rosenman
• Miklos Rozsa
• Hans J. Salter?
• Victor Young

Regarding Jerry Fielding, that SAE CD of THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES commands high prices.

However, I suspect it might be a Fox score by Leigh Harline which sold out formerly on the Intrada label - THE GIRL IN THE RED VELVET SWING perhaps? Or HOUSE OF BAMBOO?

[P.S. I only just remembered Intrada's quick sell-out of NIAGARA! Could Kritzerland be giving us more early 1950s Sol Kaplan scores from Fox?]

This is a very good list and has at least one good, if incorrect, guess in it.

Would the premiere score be to a film in which a bus is prominently featured?

Well, I love anything in which a bus is prominently featured smile

The Enemy Below and The Wayward Bus by Leigh Harline would be nice...

Wouldn't it, though! But nicer would be The Wayward Bus and The Enemy Below - I'd dance a jig for that combo platter.

Nice one K.

Missed out on the 2004 version, 8 years back. Wayward bus looks interesting as well.

Mild.

Enemy Below was, as I recall, a pretty quick sell out and because Wayward Bus clocks in around thirty-three minutes, we just thought Enemy Below would be a great Harline companion. Wayward Bus is fantastic music.

CD running time = 51 [intrada length (inc bonus stuff)] + 33 = 84 mins? Is that possible?

Mild.

Count me in for Enemy Below. I missed the Intrada edition. The Wayward Bus would be icing on the musical cake.

They must be leaving off the bonus tracks, which is unfortunate but better than nothing. I'd still buy it. ENEMY BELOW is one of the only Intrada titles I've missed out on.

Great to have The Wayward Bus.
But as the Intrada Enemy Below, which many of us already have, ran for 52 minutes (including a few minutes of bonus German drinking songs) , The Wayward Bus must be quite brief. What is the length? Not much more than 20 minutes?

The German Drinking Songs are essential - like the Where Eagles Dare Source Music.

Can K confirm please?

The Wayward Bus clocks in at about thirty-three minutes, if I'm remembering correctly - just a great score. We've removed the radar blips and the German Drinking Songs, which, for me, were not of interest. So Enemy Below, score only, is forty-three minutes and complete - our CD runs around seventy-five minutes. You won't ever find me adding German Drinking Songs to pad out the running time of a CD. smile

Well, essential is in the ear of the listener, I suppose. We have Harline's complete score - that was what was essential to us, and it gave us the ability to put these two great scores on one CD. If the drinking songs are essential, then you have to have the Intrada CD.

Good news as far as I'm concerned. I can't think of any greater musical embarrassment than having neighbors hear me playing German wartime military band marches and songs like "Der Gut Kamerad".
