Guys, i'm only disappointed because i was expecting a small suite (included as a bonus track) of music from Fright Night 2 also by Fiedel, which i think is even better than the first one. It's a shame. Will we see this score (Fright Night II) released? What do you think?

I loved to see this score finally released and I'm sure Intrada did the best they could in terms of finding the elements to this release. I also hope that this release is sucessfull enough that they also might release the score to Part II, which I also like more than the music for the first!

I saw the sequel once on video - it didn't last in the theatres and I was away at school. Don't really remember it that well - not as fun and good as the first.

Also don't remember the music, but I would likely dish out for it. Maybe it's in the pipeline, depending on demand, liscence, and master availablility.

This thread has become rather unpleasant, which is really strange and sad. In case y'all missed Joe Sikoryak's spot-on comments above, let me restate them here:

While it's really great to see how enthusiastic folks are about the release of Fright Night, it's always a shame to hear the indignation that the album wasn't put together the way some fan or other would like. I can't express the frustration that we in the business feel when years of effort and tens of thousands of dollars are expended to make an album become a reality---and then someone complains a little too loudly and often "If only..."

For what its worth, we find ourselves saying "if only..." all the time. But if albums are going to happen despite missing and compromised masters, unbelievably tangled legalities, high restoration and licensing costs, and a host of unique challenges (it's always SOMETHING), at some point it's necessary to give it your best shot and go with what you've got.

The folks at the boutique labels (FSM, Intrada, La-La-Land, Varese, et al) are not faceless corporate bean counters, they're fans like the rest of us, working against all odds to make these projects happen. A thank you is always welcome, and if you can't say something nice...

Soak that in.

The release of the Fright Night score is a long-dreamed moment for many score fans. Some of us have been thirsting for it (pun intended) for 25 years. As usual, not everyone will be pleased with the presentation, but sheesh people, can't we celebrate the fact that Intrada achieved something remarkable and released a score thought to be lost and unattainable? I mean really. Assume positive intent in the gifts the labels give us. They do the best they can.

Just try to be polite about all this, eh? And I deleted the disgusting comments from a familiar flamer who registered today to raise his usual stink. Thanks for the reports on him, folks!

Ka-razyfilmscorefan, the only song You remember, is THE song! It's COME TO ME, the sung version of the main theme..... It's a song, but for me it's part of the score, because it's the same score music with the lyrics....

It's written and performed by Brad Fiedel! Why do not put it inside the score cd?.....

Not the song I was thinking of. This one has a really cheesy synth line driven by a four-note phrase (if I recall correctly). It's the second or third one played when Jerry and whatshername are dancing.

What my friend failed to mention is that they're live recordings of him singing them in the shower.

And not only that, it's video, not just audio.

No actually these are the original recordings, though they've been dubbed in pig Latin sung by the great Betty Davis.

Personally, I am overjoyed that this score has finally been released. I have always loved the movie. From the wonderful performances to Tom Holland's terrific helming of the project. Now we have Brad Fiedel's score... dream come true. smile

Intrada has been on a roll this year... It just gets better and better... smile

As to why the songs are not on the disc, Rodger has chimed in:

"Sony made it clear that the score was the only property available to us to license for this release. So it was either do just the score or cancel the project. Since we received so many requests for the score, we decided to proceed with just a score album. Obviously we would have included everything if we could. Anyone who assumes otherwise doesn't know us very well!

It always amazes me how people focus so much on what they don't get rather than what they do get. Not just in film music, but across the board. I know it starts in childhood, because I've been leading my children away from thinking like that. (I think in preschool one of the teachers used to tell the kids, "You get what you get and you don't get upset.") Or as I like to say, you don't get a choice in the hand of cards you're dealt, but it's up to you how to play them.

In my view, every soundtrack release is a minor miracle."

I second that!

The score is all that matters to me (again...only to me). I am grateful that Intrada was able to release it - so a big thanks to those hamsters.

As far as the songs, in my opinion, only four were memorable. The two songs during the club sequence, Fiedel's "Come to Me" and the awful title track by the J.Geils Band. So I could take them or leave them and it doesn't bother me in the slightest that they were not included.

Again, this is only my opinion and I'm speaking for myself and not one community or another, so I hope no one takes offense.

Got my copy of Fright Night and Funeral Home today. I love the covers on both. Still at work so I can't really listen to them until this evening. I haven't seen Fright Night since the late 80's so I don't recall much from the film, will for sure buy the Blu-ray when Twilight Time starts taking pre-orders.

I apologize: the sung version of Come to Me is inside the cd! It's the second part of track 11, thanks Intrada!

The last track of the CD is "You're so cool Brewster and Come to Me"... Why do you say 'Come to me' is not on it?

Yes come to me mighty fine release of a CD and now blu-Ray smile

Here, Here!

NOW, if we could only all chime in enough to get a proper release of "Something Wicked..." rejected Delerue...THAT would be a MAJOR Miracle and a second coming!
