And there is good news today! Good news on this. I checked with MRT and although he didn’t have any tapes himself a DAT was sent to JG at the time and has been found by Carol and the score is being worked on for release by a label who releases JG soundtracks quite a lot. But be warned how long it will take to do the paperwork on it is another matter so don’t hold your breath.
From JN, the in-the-know owner of JerryGoldsmithOnline.com (posted in the forums). 2.5 years later... http://www.intrada.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8736 Yavar I remember doing a concert arrangement of the End Credits a few years back (it’s for a slightly larger ensemble than the one used for the film). JG makes pretty cool treatment of this (now somewhat familiar) theme. I, for one, am very much looking forward to finally hearing this score in its entirety My demo has the musicality of a potato…but you can get the general idea! https://twitter.com/lpfilmmusic/status/1025369030570463235?s=21

Cool, Leigh -- I remember when you put that up; did you do it based on sketches, or what? (And did it ever actually get performed in concert?) Yavar

There is a lot more to check out sample wise, but it looks very interesting. The film's subject matter takes place in 1942. I hope Goldsmith's score reflects that time period. It should and therefore I am very hopeful. Noirish or Goldish (as in age)?

It should and therefore I am very hopeful. Just be aware that at this point in his career, Goldsmith was featuring electronics in his scores regardless of the movie's time period, i.e. "Hoosiers" and "Love Field", so if you're expecting it to sound like a score he composed in the early 70's then you might be disappointed. Just be open-minded! If it sounds anything like The Vanishing, I'm in, and any case, I'm in (just as long as it doesn't sound like Mr. Baseball).

I think it's been established that Goldsmith re-used the Public Eye theme as the theme to LA Confidential. And on the audio commentary to the recently released Blu-ray, director Howard Franklin stated that he rejected the score because in his view it was too repetitive, it was just the theme over and over. So this score might not be as fresh as we'd like. But of course we'll all find out soon. I'm sure it will still have the distinctiveness Goldsmith brought to all his scores. What other movies has this Franklin fellow directed?

A bit off topic, but I saw a Jean-Paul Belmondo movie (filmed in Montreal) in the mid eighties called "Hold-Up" and I've often wondered if Quick Change wasn't a remake (still haven't seen it).
