Well be thankful Disney didn’t release this, look at all the issues with the Legacy Collection releases! Hey, I still love them but there are some glaring issues.
The first thing I did when this arrived (today) was head straight to Disc 2, to hear those HATED End Credit cues from HELL, that Intrada have vomited upon the Soundtrack Loving Populace.
Thankfully (and probably due to my 59 year old ears AND the fact I grew up in a time when 4th generation session tapes were heralded and treated like Manna from Heaven), I hardly noticed a thing. If people hadn't micro scrutinised them with their Spectrum Capacitors, using CGI technology to aurally simulate the sounds REAL Raptors would have heard in the Jurassic era...well...I don't know where we'd be these days. I believe it's the bit where ALL the drums/percussion/kitchen sinks kick in for a flurry of tribal fury? What I've played so far sounds great. The whole package is spectacular. Full colour booklet with notes by Tim Greiving (not read yet, but something to look forward to). Flipper cover art (original album 'eye' art or DVD cover option). 82 minutes of score. 20 minutes of alt/extras. And the original 50 minute album for the purists. In short, Intrada's customary love of the art form and OUR listening/buying pleasure.
Don't miss this one folks. TOP 5 JAMES NEWTON HOWARD.
Thank you, Mr. Gurdy. I was embarrassed to admit I couldn't figure out what the problem was.
Set sounds great to me.
Same here.
So, you're telling me that I can finally order this CD and feel good about it?
It's still a great release, even with the flawed end credits. (I'm jealous of ayone who can't hear the difference between the Raptors cue and the version in the End Credits. The echo that starts at that point in the End Credits tracks is very noticeable, especially compared to the version during the main program and even the first half of the End Credits)

I can probably hear the difference. That difference just doesn't make it "wrong" to me. I appreciate that that's apparently not how it is in the film, but I saw the film once and never will again and it doesn't bother me.
I'm not telling anybody else what should or shouldn't bother them. I'm just speaking for myself.
Like Schiffy says, I'm sure if I put some extra effort into A/B'ing the score version vs the End Credit pieces, I would hear some difference. But this one didn't leap out at me or bother me the way some anomalies on other scores have. I guess we all get bugged by different things. I also feel the level of perfectionism has been raised so high, by certain listeners, that maybe they've forgotten the way things were (no score release, short score release, terrible sounding bootlegs etc). Life's too short to search for fault in everything. Much better to just kick back and try to enjoy the stuff we all love.

Totally agree Kev. I will be getting this at some point.
I attended the brilliant Horner tribute in Gent this week and being the Horner head case I am I could easily comment on ways I think they could have improved it. But instead I choose to pinch myself that I was actually there and being able to watch this brilliant music performed live and appreciate the Herculean efforts it must have taken to get this concert out there.
I am sure it’s the same for these epic cd releases. No grumbling or bitching from me. Let’s not all be a ‘Lokutus’! ;-)
I'm struggling to whittle this one down any (not that it should be a given). I did originally select tracks 4, 5, 10 & 14 from D1 to try and bring the play time (full score = 82 mins) around to the hour mark. But replaying those 4 tracks again and there's just too much goodness in them to lose. I had hoped for some 'cartoony' style music and/or maybe some noodling suspense cues, but there ain't that much overall. This really is a 5 STAR score by JNH.
They're all quite different. It's not like the same cue played 3 times with minor variation. They really are 3 different ways of closing down the picture. The first one is the one heard with the film, so that's probably my fave, as it's the one I craved most.

Okay, thxs! My copy just shipped so I should get it within a week. Looking forward to hearing this wonderful score again.
Actually, on further inspection/plays, the 3 End Credit pieces are largely the same, apart from the opening flourishes or music style choice. They all settle into the repeated order of tunes thereafter. Still great though. And I LOVE the Alternate 'Trek' cue.
