Anyhoo, this release looks amazing, complete with all the film versions and alternates, and I can't wait to read Jeff Bond's liner notes and hear Mike Matessino's audio mastering, and hopefully Goldwasser showcases some booklet pages on his Warm Butter site soon!

Yes to all of this! And in fact, samples are already up:

Looks very nice. Tempting.

Forgive my lack of Elfman knowledge, but the tracks on the original Point release - are they re-recordings or edits of the movie tracks?

Edits. The album is somewhat infamous for the extensive nips and tucks made for the album presentation. At around 50 minutes, the Point album was practically perfect, but we’re ready now, some 20 years later for more.

is this score any good?

have only heard the three bits on the MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED album and they were interesting but not outstanding in any way

Yes! And everyone should buy this. The FULL SCORE is both interesting and outstanding in every way.

Yeah, see my earlier comment, one that is echoed by most rational human beings. The tracks sampled were bizarrely chosen (Looking For Job??), though the "Betrayal" cue is stellar there, in the film and on the original album. Wildly inventive score that bridges his classic orchestral sound with the sample-heavy percussion that would eventually overstuff his action music. It's perfect here.

Never particularly liked this score. Then again iv always thought Elfman peaked 30 years ago with Batman and hasnt come up with anything nearly as memorable since.

The scores for the Mission movies ( Like the movies themselves ) got much better as the series went on.

Elfman peaked 26 years ago with "The Nightmare Before Christmas".

I put MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE in my top five Elfman scores easily.

I feel like people who complain that he hasn't done anything good since NIGHTMARE or MIDNIGHT RUN (wtf??) haven't really been listening to his work.

If we're going to name Elfman's absolute all-time greatest work, however, I can confidently say that NO ONE on this board has yet to identify the correct answer:
