As much as I can't wait for the score (and movie) I prefer to hear the score in context before listening to it away from the movie. I'm really curious about his Mysterio theme. That villain/character seems fun to score.
I even found myself sitting in the audience. It was a lovely concert. While he conducted the second half without click he wanted to use it for the final encore of Speed Racer which had to sync up precisely with the film clips shown. Just kike in his concert at the Royal Albert Hall it didn't work. So he threw in an impromptu Q & A session while the technicians worked out the glitches with the click track.
I wish I could have attended the second concert on saturday featuring the music of Lost but sadly I couldn't find an affordable flight on sunday.
I'm blissfully spoiler-free, so I'll listen after I see it. Homecoming is one of the few MCU scores I listen to front to back (and Doctor Strange is another), so I'm looking forward to it.
It is a good score...but I have the same issues with this score as Dark Phoenix, Men In Black: International, etc. I felt like I heard this score before many times. Beyond Giacchino's pedestrian main theme, all of his mannerisms are present, down to his typical action scoring. The whole score is well done, but also felt derivative and tiresome at the same time. It just doesn't feel fresh.
The first film had the catchy main theme Gaicchino played with throughout the score. It anchored the score and gave it a thematic drive even if it was a bit redundant.
I assume there's a lot more action in the sequel and I am just not keen on Gaicchino's action writing. So I didn't really have high hopes this score would work for me.
Wow... so good. MG knocked this out of the park. Was like warm about the original release but it quickly grew on me. Far From Home elevates it to a stunning level. Rarely a score excites me this much on a first listen.
