So we're clear fellas, this is CHUD with iso score & about a 30min. composer interview with the great Michael Felsher.
I perused it - after 30mins or so of interview, the iso score begins - it's not in sync to film, like playing an album with TV on caption /mute (hey, MY thing I do!!). After the 45 odd min. score finishes, audio comes back up for the film.
I'm glad the theatrical cut is included, if just for the misplaced "diner finale ". Yes it makes no sense being there, but I'm used to the film ending that way from VHS days. Flick is still entertaining as hell - did you guys know Criterion did an April Fools joke once upon a time, that they were doing this title? Glad I missed that one - Arrow did a great job, I'm grateful they are stateside now.

-Sean

Yeah it's a great disc, but Felsher is always so obnoxious on those commentaries. I wish he'd just let them speak rather than hijacking the whole discussion. (Fright Night is the worst example)
He should take a note from Nick Redman on how to moderate a commentary. State of Grace - now there's a commentary.

Interesting!
I call Felsher a hero cos' of 2 recent things.
You MUST hear the new track with Stuart Cohen on THE THING. it's gold. Cohen dominates in one of the most entertaining, free-wheeling , informative tracks I've ever heard. And the moderation is perfectly unobtrusive.
Second, he is solo on his pet project JUST DESSERTS, the Creepshow documentary he was behind. He comes across as concise, friendly and humble about that project. Only one gripe - who IS the mystery non-participant he mentions?? He names off all my would be guesses at the end, unless he purposely was trying to confuse the identity. If you hear this, you'll know what I'm babbling about.
He seems like a good dude, one of us.

Now, annoying, how about the guy whose name purposely escapes me that moderated Tobe Hooper on LIFEFORCE, THE FUNHOUSE, for example? I turned them off, grating as hell.

Finally, grazie for the tip about State of Grace - that is on my too watch pile from a recent TT SAE sale, so I'll have to surely check it now!!

Appears to be limited, 3000 I think.
Grrr....

That's just for the initial pressing with the slipcase and comic book.

Well this gets released on Friday, I think waxwork records subscribers have already started receiving their copies. I don't have a working record player so I'm not sure if I should purchase this or hold out for a CD release from another company. What's everyone's gut feeling on this, do you think a CD release is inevitable or should I grab this before it sells out?? which I think it will.

Where the hell is the listing at least! ?!?
Waxwork records.com right?
I'll eat the vinyl, but hope someone does a cd,
so I can cruise in my yella Firebird, picking up chick's with that Wakeman Raft Rock stiff blasting....

I plan on getting this vinyl no matter what. I'm hoping for a CD release too, but I'm not waiting to find out if it ever gets released or not. Hopefully La La Land will give it their treatment just like they did with the original CD. Until that time I will gladly spin this amazing looking Waxwork vinyl for years to come!

"2xLP 180 gram colored vinyl, and more. On sale this Friday!"

I'm not sure what the "and more" is referring to, but I'm guessing it means more vinyl variants. I'd love to be wrong though.

A couple of clips can be heard over on Waxwork's Soundcloud :

https://soundcloud.com/waxwork-records

Damn, a dream come true to hear the track Thanks For The Ride Lady. Don't like the voice overs and SFX in the track Welcome To Another Edition Of Creepshow though. I'm thinking that a CD release will have to come at some point. I think every other vinyl that Waxwork has for sale can be got on CD from another company.

Get a semi-cheap Target turntable to "tide you over" pun intended until this lame rennassaince passes! It's been a fun little nostalgia detour, I'm glad I kept part of my vinyl collection to revisit ...no sale on the ridiculous gouging happening for new albums here, however.
Just my take on all this....my cheap portable player enabled me to get Twisted Nerve too, so there's that....

This'll end costing me over Fifty quid to import.

Even if I have been waiting two decades to finally own it, fuck that.

Ok, it landed yesterday and tonight I finally have time to spin this thing. It's a beauty package at the very least - I will report back in xx mins. (damn these albums with no timings. ... ). Didn't play sound clips, but I saw the dreaded sound efx disclaimer in one post, so.....praying this isn't another 'Street Trash ' style ripoff.

Here's my dimestore review:

Pros:
-Excellent packaging & artwork.
-Terrific sound quality (mostly, see below) & score is (again, mostly) complete.

Cons:
-Any segment in the film with 'The Creep'...is taken from the m & e tracks. Sound is still good, but it's direct from the film.
-Board fade out at the beginning of 'The Raft', meaning none of that cornball rock and roll for that segment is included. No big deal for most people I'd guess, but I would have liked to have it.
-Brief liners from Les Reed that don't really tell how the hell he landed this gig (I was always curious, sue me), except it was David Ball's idea.

Overall: Recommended, despite more con than pro. I love this score, especially the outlandish bits, like the funky 70's polizia style in The Hitchhiker, the sappy cornball orchestral melody in Old Chief Woodenhead, and my favorite, the end title 'overture' that veers into a wacky muzak interlude in the end, before doubling back to the faux-roque styling of The Hitchhiker.
No use to go into the cd vs. Lp business - I'd what it is, and if a cd happens, I'm all over that too.

Great recap Sean, thanks so much. Looking forward to picking this up. Loved this one too. Hope someone can do a CD of it, fingers crossed!

Great to hear your thoughts Sean.Waiting on mine coming in.Disappointed to hear about the 'Creep' stuff though. Is the main title actually in mono which is what it sounded like in the sample clips ?
