Composer Mark Mancina’s latest opus for the video game SORCERY can best be described as if MOLL FLANDERS married TWISTER – a beautiful Celtic tinged score at times with an underlying pulse pounding adventure score at its heart. Its 60 minutes of some of the best music we have ever released. 12 page booklet by Dan Goldwasser shows off the games behind the scenes artwork while composer Mancina and score producer Scaturro shed some insight on the game and the music that was created for it.

La La Land Records and Capitol Records are proud to reissue one of John Williams greatest scores, JANE EYRE, from the 1971 film starring George C Scott and Susannah York. For this CD reissue engineer Doug Schwartz worked from the ¼” 2 track stereo album masters from the Capitol EMI vault. The stunning 24 page booklet by Jim Titus features in depth liner notes by Williams historian Jeff Eldridge as well as reprints the notes from the original LP package. Sadly the complete recorded score has been lost to the ages and all that has survived is the LP masters. The tracks are identical to previous releases, but the sound has been greatly improved and Jim’s packaging is worth the price alone! While not the “definitive edition” we had hoped for, this release sure packs a wallop! If you never owned this score now is the time to pick it up!

I'm surprised that Jane Eyre is only pressed at 2,000 copies. I know it's a reissue, but it's been OOP for so long, I imagine this one would sell rather quickly since it is a Williams.
These things seem so hard to judge. It took Intrada ages to sell out of CINDERELLA LIBERTY and MONSIGNOR at 3000 copies each*, and neither of those had been on CD (legitimately) before, whereas SPACECAMP (which had been on CD before, though admittedly on a scarce Japanese import) sold out overnight.

There are two bootlegs for "Jane Eyre". The first predates the Silva Screen reissue. The content is the original (and surviving) program, plus the concert suite as prepared for Williams (and recorded with the Boston Pops Orchestra in the late 80's), a recording of the scherzo "To Thornfield", as conducted by Charles Gerhardt, and five more tracks with excerpts from "Thomas and the King", "Yes Giorgio", "SpaceCamp", "Born on the Fourth of July" and "Midway".
The second bootleg, calling it self as a "75th birthday edition" but i never saw it before last year, has again the original program, but tracks are sliced so it looks to have much more cues than it really has. Besides that, includes again the re-recordings, and again listing them as alternates, plus a section of tracks referred to as "period and source pieces" that are nothing more than English tinted selection culled from ever imaginable source but never from any lost recording session -- even included is a track from the above mentioned CD "Pops Britannia".
If you ask me, they are both worthless.
As for re-recordings, Williams did record the concert suite on "Pops Britannia" (on Philips Classics) but is sadly out of print. Gerhardt recorded the scherzo for his old Reader's Digest LPs and was included on a Varese Sarabande release "The Prince and the Pauper" (along with the End Credits" from "The Reivers" and a number of other film music classics.) Keisuke Wakao recording is indeed lovely, but not arranged by Williams.
Also, not arranged by Williams -- not sure who transcribed it, as I'm not at home -- is the suite as recorded by Silva Screen in Prague, Nic Raine conducting. It follows the overall structure of the concert suite, but they went to the original versions for that recording. It was available on the 4-CD set on Williams music they released a few years ago -- on the new 6-CD set I believe they only included one track.

Jane Eyre is Williams at his lyrical best. The album's a feast of melody. I'll be very happy to upgrade.

Miguel / MV is completely correct. All Jane Eyre boots just feature re-recordings that had appeared on compilation CDs as the extra tracks - nothing extra from the actual film sessions has ever surfaced. They appear to truly be completely lost to time.
