I might put MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE GHOST PROTOCOL in with my order, as it looks like that's going to get delayed so I may not get charged for the order until 2012!
Sure is a wee bit of money...even though im grateful for sets like this. Kinda makes me feel bad about Journey To The Center of the Earth...sucks not having a complete edition.
A release like this makes me wonder about other Fox stuff thought to be missing (or in to bad a state to be released). It will be interesting to see what next year brings.
I hope this lasts at least until Thursday. But I want it.
B A D L Y .
I agree with that.
I don't think that we're risking an immediate sellout. The pricetag and the fact that Golden Age doesn't interest a lot of filmscore people is going to make this one a slow boil sell, I think.
I honestly don't know if I can afford it. I'll have until Friday to figure that out.
Impressive set, although most -- if not all -- of the titles are already available in some form or another.
Of course, it's way out of my price league, but it would have been a good way to get a representative Herrmann collection all at once. I don't own any of these soundtracks on separate albums, although some of them in suite format (like JANE EYRE and whatever bits were on the Herrmann "Celebration" radio program). Also, I far prefer rerecordings over original recordings when it comes to older scores like these, so that's a little bit of a deterrent right there. And the C&C thing.
But again....impressive set and probably a treat to hardcore Herrmann collectors and those who don't have much of his stuff already.
This is a much more reasonable price for this amount of music than the 16-disc box I bought earlier this year. I guess this one doesn't include a flash drive :-p
Not a release that's up my alley, but kudos to Varese for undertaking this project and providing it for a very reasonable price.
wow, Four scores are making their premiere appearance. Never before have Herrmann’s original recordings of The Snows of Kilimanjaro, White Witch Doctor, 5 Fingers or Hangover Square appeared on CD. Since this is a FOX-related release (not a complete Herrmann box), I wonder why they included so many non-expanded scores which we Herrmann collectors will already have - Blue Denim, Egyptian, Anna & King, Journey to Center Earth, Day Earth Stood Still.
You don't think some of the improved scores are going to get an individual CD release down the line, do you? Like happened with the Karate Kid box?
Cheers
I don't know how these things work, but I assume Varese have licensed out 1000 copies of each title & once sold the titles could be up for re-license, if Fox were up for it. I'd think they'd wait a while before licensing them out again.
