This came out when, 2009ish? Man that was the start of awesome things for Trek score junkies like myself. I remember this thing popped up out of nowhere. And I forgot exactly how it was announced, but I remember reading that the CD was going to be released FIRST at San Diego comic Con and then released days later to the masses. The Screenarchives booth was the first place I went to before anything else. Grabbed it, tossed it in my bag and moved on to the next thing. I think that same weekend, on Sunday, mere minutes before the Convention closed, I walked by a woman who had just bought LLL’s Batman 89 release. I stopped her dead in her tracks and asked her if I could see it, because i thought it was a bootleg! She told me where LLL’s booth was and again I ran over there to get it just before they closed. Good times yall.
In the years that followed, we got every Trek film score, and several volumes of music from al of the shows.
Future generations of STAR TREK music fans won't understand any of this. You really had to be alive at the time to grasp the magic and wonder of the STAR TREK Renaissance. Our descendants will just think, "Wasn't all of it always available in a streaming catalog?"

Yep... summer of 2009. I recall the Comic-Con buzz and, for whatever reason, I had convinced myself that the title in question was going to be Gremlins. So when the topic "New FSM: James Horner's STAR TREK II -- complete!!" popped up, I gasped and nearly shouted, which no doubt would've caused concern among my co-workers at the time. I think I had assumed that the first releases in the new Paramount deal would be smaller titles: IQ, Seconds, and so on, and that the geek "holy grails" would come later.

TFF was November 2010 and TSFS was June 2010.
When TSFS was announced it seemed like a piece with TWOK and both were FSM. (I think it was in this thread where Lukas said "Sure we'd love to do TSFS, but we'll see".) Then La-La Land announced TFF and it looked like this might be going somewhere.
By the time we got The Undiscovered Country (and GNP jumped in with First Contact) it was a done deal that we were getting The Motion Picture.
OTOH the TOS Box was a stupendous surprise!
