Is there a breakdown of who composed what? I believe they did roughly half the season each?

What? Giving people proper credit? That's crazy talk.

If I remember correctly, it breaks down like this: Elfman’s only solo credit is episode 1, the next few are Elfman/Bacon, then the last four are Bacon alone (though every episode’s score leans HEAVILY on Elfman’s theme).

Show is AWFUL. Just pluck a character out of pop culture and throw them into a Harry Potter mystery. Bullshit. Score was a fun listen on its own, thanks to the use of actual melody (usually Elfman’s theme on various instruments).

The trailers were pretty dire, despite some awesome casting.

Remember when composers wrote iconic and memorable themes? I think that ended in the 90's. So what's this show about? A little girl who murders other kids or was that teaser a dream sequence?

Had my doubts, but I'm really enjoying it! Creepy fun, not trying to be anything that it isn't. I really like how the music works in it. It's pretty obvious Elfman didn't score it, with the exception of perhaps one or two key scenes. His themes from the main titles were deconstructed and used throughout. Bacon spotted it really effectively.

It’s The Addams Family trying to be Harry Potter/Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina! The whole show is trying to be something it isn’t.

Still, at least the music is good.

This show and music is fabulous. The paint it black on cello...wow!

Yes, being harsh, its premise is goth girl with attitude goes to a sort of hogwarts comprehensive, but. But...but...the lines from Wednesday Addams are delicious!! Brilliant cast.
Guzman and zeta jones are superb and the headmistress, who i knew but couldnt place, was bloody Brienne of Tarth from Game of thrones.

Best of all?? "Thing" steals the whole show. Its fucking genius.

At one point Gomez ends up behind bars, Wednesday goes to visit him and sits across the booth ...Thing climbs up the glass partition and does 'boat drinks' with Gomez!! Made me laugh.

A lot of it has. And im hard to please

I watched episode 1 of this last night and...kinda liked it...but also didn't.
It looks really classy and handsome and the music is spot-on.
I liked Wednesday, her morose/pithy lines and the school/other characters/set-up, despite the obvious HARRY POTTER et al dressings.
What nearly sank it for me,* right out of the gate, was the casting of Gomez and Morticia Addams!!!
WTF!!
While I'm all for equal opportunities (and I love Guzman in many, many previous films) having him follow in the footsteps of John Astin & Raul Julia is like asking me to come on for Lionel Messi and WIN THE GAME in the last 20 minutes!!!
When Gomez Addams has always been tall and dark and dashing and handsome, casting Guzman to follow suit is a fool's errand.
He's just 100% wrong for the role to me.
Not quite as bad, but Zeta Jones also just doesn't ooze that dark/sexy/morbid magnetism that I've seen from previous players in the role. And her acting is pretty weak too.
Fortunately, they f**ked off for most of the rest of the episode, but I dread watching them drown in roles they're just not suited for, in future eps.
I'll stick with it...for now...and try and stay with the positives.

* and moreover, my missus, who kept calling Gomez Tattoo cos he was more suited to FANTASY ISLAND.

Kev, i thought that ep1 about the casting of zeta jones and guzman, but they shine in a later episode, about no4 or no5, and they show how good they are. Stick with it and u will be rewarded

Finally got to the end of this series.
It would have been perfect at about 5 episodes in total, but I started to flag from ep6 onwards, as it felt tedious and dragged out (with the main character continually solving the crime, only to be proven wrong when said suspect either died or was cleared).
Lots to admire in it though.
Loved the look and design and music. Top stuff.
The kid who played Wednesday was superb (hard to believe she's 20 in real life, she looked about 12) and all the other Hogwarts* characters (kids and teachers) were interesting/likeable and well drawn.
I did kinda get used to Zeta Jones by the end, but I still maintain Guzman is the worst piece of casting I've ever come across.
It's like asking Danny DeVito to play James Bond.
Just awful.
Not his fault, he just isn't built for the role as already realised by Astin and Julia.
Decent show overall, much better than I would have anticipated.

* wink

Kev, you’re judging that bit of casting based on the looks of the previous two actors you’ve seen in the role, but you should really try and get over than hangup because here’s Gomez in the original Addams family illustrations drawn in the 1930s by Charles Addams for The New Yorker:

Yeah, well, I'm judging it by the only two previous incarnations I know (the old TV series and the Sonnenfeld films).
They obviously didn't follow the cartoon version likeness for Gomez in the first place and now that Guzman LOOKS the closest to the original cartoon version...well...it's too late in the game to change MY visual preconceptions/expectations.

Well at least now you can realize they’re your preconceptions and not the terrible miscasting you thought it was. Somebody in casting was clearly paying attention to the origins of the character.

Yeah, but now I'm gonna SUE the makers of the 60s TV series and the 90s film versions, due to the emotional stress and discomfort it caused me while viewing it.
Somebody's gonna PAY!!
