This is from "Death from the Past" by Leith Stevens; it's not on this set but it would definitely be included if we were to do a second one. We did include a LOT of Leith Stevens music on this set though in a similar vein.

Awesome, thanks Jeff. Here's hoping for a quick sellout (after I get mine) and onto volume 2!

The first season of LIS and Voyage for me are more serious and the best. I have both on DVD. The first 2 B/W seasons of Superman with its elements of film noir are also excellent. Looking forward to this although I don’t remember much of the music.

I prefer the second season. The series really worked in color and the Flying Sub was a major draw and a great way to open up the stories. It did become a simplistic monster show in the third year and the very definition of a "bottle show." Yet, I love all four seasons...

I can’t remember if we had a color tv! I liked the episode with Robert Duvall and the one with the robot which tracked some of Herrmann’s TDTESS.

We have all the Leith Stevens scores on the set but two.

Herrmann's Fox scores were pilfered to a huge degree in The Time Tunnel. In Chase Through Time alone, you'll find Garden of Evil, Journey to the Center of the Earth and King of the Khyber Rifles.

That may be the best he's ever been treated. Good for you guys.

Okay, if there's more Leith Stevens to be had on a Volume 2, maybe you can count me in for that too, Jeff.

That makes two of us. TWO! guaranteed sales of a volume 2.

Your work is appreciated; even stuff you haven't done!

There's also a previously unknown main and end title by Jerry Goldsmith that was never used on the show--at least in this form.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG! OMG! OMG!

Yeah, no kidding.

And, FYI, A&C, we've well sourced that both Goldsmith and Leith Stevens composed (and we're pretty sure recorded) themes to toss their hats into the ring for the season 2 (and onward) replacement of Herrmann's Twilight Zone theme.

. . . some day . . .

That's a little grail, but this one came from out of nowhere!

Fantastic news...will be ordering this Day 1. And as a big Leith Stevens fan, I'm happy to learn how Stevens-heavy the collection is.

Never mind, I found it...

Unless I'm not mistaken that recording of the theme was for one of the SILVA SCREEN compilations featuring the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

I thought it might have been a Silva Screen rerecording--I'm just shocked I never had whatever album it was on!

As I recall it was on THE CULT FILES REOPENED

Pretty good album IMHO

One would think that with all of these old 60s (and 70s) sci-fi shows available on cable and streaming apps, that there would be a whole new audience out there discovering them? But then again, maybe not? Case point: My brother bought the Blu-ray edition of Batman (with Adam West and Burt Ward) a few years ago and showed them to our young nephews...the kids couldn't even make it through one episode. "This is stupid. This is lame. This isn't Batman!" were their comments. Oh, well...their loss, I guess.

They're just not picking up on the subtle humor, or the suburb acting of Adam West. Too much R Rated movies and intense violence in modern movies have deprived them of these joys.
Yes. It's their loss, but we should pity them.

Even if they discover the shows, that doesn't mean they want or even care about the music. I am on a few solcial media groups for the Irwin Allen shows (and Star Trek) and for every person who is excited when a soundtrack release is announced, a dozen 1) bitch about the price or 2) simply don't care.

Half of the the Lost in Space fans I know on Facebook don't even have a blu-ray player so not only didn't they buy the series set, they bitched and moaned about trhe VHS set only being in widescreen.

Sadly, most of the fans out there are ancient and still staring at their VCR's flashing 12:00. They go on to the Me-TV page complaning about too much Mama's Family and MASH and don't have a DVR so Voyage and Lost in Space are on too late for them.

So grab these releases when they come out and thank your lucky stars we're even getting the 4 CD sets because after these guys are done, nobody is gonna care.

Spot on post, Scott.

I think of some of my favorite shows of the era, like for example The Andy Griffith Show, a truly beloved fairly timeless hit, which I think had an original orchestral score written for every episode (or close to it) by the great Earle Hagen. That's never gotten even a single CD volume (like I Spy, another Hagen-scored show that was popular). Oh how ecstatic I would be if a 4 CD set of highlight scores were produced from this series! It would be a huge surprise and I would order it instantly, without even thinking to complain about what scores might be left off. (Would I notice if some favorite cues were missing? Yeah.)

VttBotS fans are getting four packed discs with 13 as-complete-as-possible scores, it seems, and a previously unknown and unused main and end titles by Jerry Goldsmith thrown into the mix. That is AMAZING and IMO fans should count their lucky stars. smile

I can't tell if this is case, but if there's still some unreleased music, I hope it's for different episodes. It would be annoying to have the same episodes spread out on separate releases. Then again, if these are selections, they might have made their choices and wouldn't include more of an episode's music anyway.

For Voyage we included all the music we had for the episodes chosen, so where scores are not complete on the release it's because music was either missing entirely or too badly damaged for release. So if we do a second release it would be for an entirely different set of episodes.

TWO REASONS TO BUY AND ENJOY THIS SET
Jerry Goldsmith
Robert Drasnin

Drasnin's score plays like “The Wizard Shook The Earth”: the first Dr. Loveless' score.

PS
Too bad, Harry Geller was not part of that voyage.
