2012 CONTINUATION:
In 2012 the series came back for three more seasons. A four season was planned, but the show was cancelled.
Some of the original actors returned, like Larry Hagman.
The series apparently ignored the TV movies.
Rob Cairns scored the entire new run. I checked out some of one episode, based on a comment about the dramatic scoring. Well, like the "Dynasty" remake, the scoring is not worth your time. If you sampled the "Dynasty" remake music that I linked to in the "Dynasty" thread, then you'll understand.

I forgot to mention that a decades or just over ago, Film Music Society announced it was working on Jerrold Immel's scores from this and "Knots Landing", but nothing has ever materialized and they have never given an update since then:

Well, I forgot something else.
"Dallas" technically had a spin-off series: "Knots Landing"
I say "Technically", because it depends on how you look at it. "Knots Landing" was a pilot written and shopped around before "Dallas" existed. The networks weren't interested. They then created "Dallas, which of course took off, so the networks asked for a spin off, so they dusted off "Knots Landing" and presumably had to re-write it to some degree to mesh with "Dallas" (since characters crossed over). However, I read that "Knots Landing" ignored the season-long dream, so the shows kind of split into two universes at that point.
And yes, I will be covering "Knots Landing" (available load pending, that is).
