I have a few questions, since I haven't gotten anything from Varese in years:

Are you saying they use a cardboard mailer or a paper package - I'm reading both here and so it makes no sense - which is it, be specific why you would find a cardboard package flimsy, should that be what they're using.

How much do Varese charge to ship a single CD. Two? Three?

Do you order single CDs from Amazon? How do they arrive and in what packaging?

Is this necessary i can't see REAL shipping issues.. i wouldn't be happy if the actual title had damage it ruins the product, plastic means nothing grow-up people & move-on - Look what Varese have released there's still no love.. its a chuckle these troubles that'd all it is.. you could sue for negligence attorney all these "Members Cases."

Most stupid response I have ever seen. One is entitled to get the discs and the jewel case in mint condition.

Its not stupid your cd/s are fine even the sleeves held-up, so the package took knocks broke some plastic the main outlook here is music it came too you unscathed. Don't blame the labels its a post office issue day-too-day life they lead.

No it's not a post office issue. Whether it be Film Score Monthley, Kritzerand, La La Land, Intrada or Amazon, the CDs are packed with care in boxes with plastic wrapping; not thin cardboard. You really should only comment about matters that you are knowledgeable about.

.

Picture taken surreptitiously after Varese staff member sent out a- mail response:

This problem could be solved if NAXOS would just keep their MULES out of the mail room.

Varese did it now Naxos ships in corrugated card-board its tougher than Amazon's texture, & its hard to break that texture only with some due force that can happen, of course its a PO issue they keep raising rates for their bungling service.

If Amazon's shipping material is so shoddy; why have I never had a single issue with any item Amazon has shipped to me with regard to CDs. And when I have had an issue, like twice in the last five years with a book, that was damaged, Amazon has replaced the same immediately.

Easy, Amazon use all different couriers one day it might be DHL another could be TNT, far as i know boutique labels use one post service in US - USPS which today looks like its going down the bog-hole.

Very nice; someone from England disparages the United States Post Office. Again, it is the responsibility of the company that sells the product to package it properly; not the United States Post Office.

There are rubbery kind of plastic jewel cases that would obviate breakage issues, but they aren't crystal clear. I dunno if they have a shorter shelf life or show scratches more easily.

These soft POLY CD CASES are made from polypropylene. This material is pliable and resistant to breakage. Can be used for CDs, DVDs, and game discs.

I suspect that the packaging machine's high pressure, stamping action in the (heated?) application of the corrugated card/adhesive elements that are employed here might be responsible for damage. In which case, what subsequently happens to the package in the mail might be irrelevant.

True enough single disc jewel cases can be bought on Amazon in bulk; ten for a reasonable price. However, where does one buy multi-disc jewel cases?

I use Sleeve City as they package the cases in ample bubble wrap. They know their job.

If you knew how busy the USPS were then you'd realise accidents typically happen a lot, i won't shoot labels its not there fault - Varese packaging passes the test if its not abused by your regular Pats.

Strange that I can't recall, after dozens and dozens and dozens of purchases, ever receiving a CD from Intrada or Kritzerland that has a damaged case. Yet every single one of my last five or six single-disc Varese purchases has been smashed up.

I've had digi-packs sent with zero damage off Allyourmusic - its the exact packaging & i've never had one issue in all the times I've bought there only cancelling an order, post-workers today don't get a good-deal there privatised companies who only care for £ not boutique products.

Hi, Bruce. I can only speak to a recent order I received from them containing Raggedy Man and some other title that eludes me at the moment. It was mailed in one of those thin, cardboard envelopes, not a cardboard box. If, say, paperwork where placed in one, it would pretty much be flat. The bigger the item, the more likely the cardboard will bulge a little in the center. Both of my CDs where placed in there will no padding or bubble wrap of any kind. As it were, I was one of the lucky ones who did not incur much damage, just a small crack in one of the cases, no damage to the discs or booklet.

Hate to say it, but I've always gotten at least one broken case per order from Kritzerland. Those white single-ply boxes are useless. I got a cd from Europe in only taped-together pieces of corrugated cardboard (and counterintuitively, it was form-fitting), no problems. Corrugated cardboard is the way to go. Hey, they put babies in cardboard boxes, so it's gotta be safe.
