Click, click, click...
I hope there is no delay for this one.

I think you mean tick, tick, tick. Noone wants to see "click" in a music context.

So looking forward to an announcement from Quartet. Never saw the movie, but I have listened to the music from the film in various incarnations on YouTube. It is absolutely wonderful . One of Bernard Herrmann's greatest scores from a genre that doesn't always excite me.

With ENDLESS NIGHT scheduled for release on Blu-ray in the US and the UK in the late February/March period, I wonder if Quartet is planning to time their release with the Blu-ray versions?

The UK Indicator Blu-ray of ENDLESS NIGHT is well worth having because, apart from being able to hear Herrmann’s score in context, the plentiful extras include a 60 minute interview (audio only) which the composer gave in 1972 at the National Film Theatre. It’s rare for actors to say anything much about the music in their films so it’s also pleasing to have Hayley Mills discussing the film and giving high praise to Herrmann’s score.

The film itself, makes little sense in retrospect and is burdened by some toe-curling dialogue and the serious miscasting of the leads, Hywell Bennett and Hayley Mills. I do wish, however, that Herrmann had held back from use of the very prominent moog synthesizor – he had originally wanted to use a theremin which would have been less obtrusive. There’s a good review here by Glenn Erickson: https://trailersfromhell.com/endless-night-region-b/

I didn't preorder this one, but I am in London tomorrow so I'll see if they have it in Fopp. Tomorrow is the disc's official release date, so hopefully they'll have it.

Yes, the time has come for Quartet to release this promised CD.

The delay could be due to getting artwork clearance, notes approved, editing taking longer then expected, etc...

I'm sure they want to get it out the door as soon as possible, sometimes things. get in the way of that.

Well, it certainly helped that Roy Boulting's wife (Hayley Mills) was a very good friend of Norma and Benny way back. wink

Quartet has been too quiet about the CD release. It's almost March...

I thought the Bernard Herrmann Society posted that this Quartet release is coming in 2020?

You're probably right . Just wishful thinking put into words.

As I mentioned in my previous post Quartet Records have confirmed on this very thread, on October 16th, that they will be releasing Endless Night in February/March 2020! Have you been eating too much spinach Cody, or maybe not enough, lol!!?

My post was all quotes - I was bumping up Niall's post with his reminder about the release date range, which people seem to ignore.

So, a new release is out, but it's not Endless Night. Something must have gone wrong...

What new release are you talking about, exactly? I don't see anything new on their website.

I wish they could have released this in February or March, before the virus hit.

It would be nice to hear some feedback from Quartet, if only to confirm that this release is still expected at some point.
