This is terrible news. When I think of the preservation of film music, the exploration of vaults, the unearthing of the impossible, the collectors market today, I think of Nick Redman. He was the pioneer. RIP Sir and thank you for everything.
This is one hell of a loss and a shock. I'm imagining going through my collection and seeing all the gaps that would be their had Nick not produced those albums. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Shocking news. So utterly sad to hear of his passing. He battled hard and against this awful disease. He regularly posted on FB and I so hoped he was winning. We owe him so much through his passion to produce soundtracks and especially all of the JG soundtracks he was involved with. Sincere condolences to his family and close friends.
This is terribly sad and shocking news. Not being part of the whole FB/Twitter thing, I had no idea he was even ill. Yes, a pioneer in the art of restoration. How many great works he must have rescued and shared with us. We all owe him a great debt of gratitude. My collection is all the richer for his passion and endeavour. Rest well, Good Sir.
Sad to hear this. His Peckinpah work/knowledge was impeccable and a superb job on An album in montage - my favourite documentary. I still want to see "a Sam Peckinpah, Mexico and 'The Wild Bunch' that he wrote and directed.
Condolences and deepest sympathies to Julie Kirgo and his family and friends. I never met him or had any contact with him besides his wonderful output of soundtracks and film releases on Twilight Time. However, I felt I knew him through the insightful, informative and enjoyable commentaries by him and Julie on the Twilight Time label. His voice was distinctive. He will be missed by the film music community. RIP, Nick.
What terrible news. We have Nick to thank for all the great CD's we've gotten since the early 90's. It was Nick who broke through with the music union and Fox Studios, in the early 90's, that paved the way for all the other labels. I wrote him a nice thank you letter about 1995 and Nick called me up and thanked me for my letter, we had a long and very enjoyable chat. RIP Nick, I'll think of you when I play the Golden Age Fox CD's.
