Or since the update specifically mentions "album" and not "score" perhaps it is finally FACE OF A FUGITIVE / BLACK PATCH.

I wish. But Roger also called it "a nice companion piece"...which makes me think it's either another Hitchcock, another Tiomkin, or both.

Just do the carousel fight music from Strangers On A Train and we'll all chip in again.

Yavar, where did you read Roger's comments? What is the whole quote?

It's all in the email he sent to Kickstarter backers recently (weren't you a backer? if so, check your spam filter maybe). I deleted it after reading but I'll see if I can dig it up and copy/paste his message here for you...

The full quote is:

Hi all, just wanted to let everyone know that today we set the recording dates for 6/17-22. In fact we're going to record a second album while we're there. This is funded separately from this Kickstarter campaign, but should will make a nice companion piece. We're still reviewing parts, but things are coming together nicely.

Maybe it's The Man Who Knew Too Much!!! That would make a GREAT "companion" release!!!!

That's what I thought (thanks for posting the full text, Schiffy). My only hesitation is that the Herrmann part of the score is less than a half hour. This makes me think it would be paired with something else to make the disc a reasonable length (maybe a reconstruction of the full Arthur Benjamin score for the original film, with his Cantata being the link between the two?)

Maybe they're re-recording the Alfred Hitchcock attraction music from Universal Studios with a full orchestra? I'd say that was related! Both projects were made for the same purpose - entertainment!

Nah.... They'll just put Herrmann's score on the disc TWICE, then that way you won't have to hit "repeat"!big grinbig grinbig grinbig grinbig grinbig grin

I know there are other avenues to pursue this question, but if anyone has the same one...or an answer....here goes.
Any word or movement on the free cd from Intrada that comes along with certain perk levels?
I was asked about a title choice months ago & that was the last I heard.

Still eager to hear this & whatever companion Intrada is doing with it!!

With recording sessions coming up in about two weeks, I thought it might be a good idea to bump this thread to build anticipation.

I've also come up with a theory that the "companion album" that will be recorded with Dial M may not be a full score at all, but possibly a compilation album a la Man in Half Moon Street.

Actually I gotta update you on those recording dates. William Stromberg himself, via FB:
"Unfortunately, we had to move this recording session to August due to scheduling issues. I'm still recording some unknown Tiomkin Ballet music in a couple of weeks though."

Who knows what THAT could be??

I'm not on Facebook and therefore did not see that, so thank you for the update. The Tiomkin ballet music does sound intriguing, I'll say that.

I was just about to post that news Yavar and you beat me to it.

The ballet music Tiomkin wrote could be from the early 1930's MGM film(s) that his wife Albertina Rasch danced in or worked on.
The unfinished MGM 1930 film THE MARCH OF TIME?

Bill Stromberg updated on his Facebook page:

1.) June, Slovakia: Dimitri Tiomkin Ballet music: 70 minutes! Some of this ballet music later appeared in some of his film scores like RED RIVER and DUEL IN THE SUN! Can't wait to hear this Tiomkin music!

2.) August, Scotland: DIAL M FOR MURDER. Royal National Scottish Orchestra.

Looking Good! smile

THE MARCH OF TIME was also the title of a monthly series of newsreel films, shown from 1935-52, produced by Time Life. Quite popular, until interest in newsreels faded.

That Tiomkin ballet music sounds enticing!

Rozsa and North also wrote ballets.

The orchestra has been upgraded to the RSNO? That's great news!

This is very interesting, thanks for posting it. MGM 1930 THE DEVIL'S CABARET short film in color!

In main title credits: Ballet music by Dimitri Tiomkin

Ballet staged by Albertina Rasch (Tiomkin's wife).

In 1930 films gave very few credits in the opening titles, I wasn't aware that Tiomkin had a Hollywood film credit that far back.
