It's not sold out, just out of stock.

This must have been the fastest sell out in Intradas history.Happy that its such a seller ! I hope I still get mine...even it has to be shipped to Europe. "(TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK). We will post estimates of when this title will be back in stock as soon as we know!" How can you mistake this for sold out. It says so very clearly more copies will be available at a later date

Yeah, I would guess they press around 500 to 1000 of the initial run, for the other vendors and early bird fans. It's probably a combination of pressing plant limits these days, testing the sales waters and saving office/storage space. It also gives them a chance to adjust and amend the future pressings, when fans start to complain about 'low volumes' and 'digital glitches' and 'high-pitched whining sounds' and 'spine printing errors' and... That last bit is a joke...(but not really)

We're exhausted and taking a break. Not as exhausted as Jeff Johnson is going to be soon... Yavar Apparently so...... Per the description page: PLEASE NOTE - as expected we are experiencing a high volume of orders for Willow. If you are just placing your order now, be aware that the earliest it will ship is likely between July 5 - 7. Also be aware that emailing Intrada to check on the status of your order will not make your order go out any faster - the only thing it will do is slow us down. Please have mercy! For them who insist on CD’s and waste of Trees. Save the Environment… ZIP IT! Zip it? Yes, perhaps you should since you are violating the Community Rules here. 4) No Bootlegs. "Bootlegs" is an umbrella term for pirate CDs, unauthorized albums, illegal music file sharing, etc. We have a TOTAL blackout on discussion of these “unmentionables”; we have found that even posts that warn people against them only serve to publicize them. Why is this our policy? For one, we’re ethical fellows. Stealing is wrong. For another, more practical reason, bootleg CDs are typically of poor quality and only damage the ability of legitimate labels to put out official, superior versions. Given that we’re one of the labels, it is maddening to compete against crooks peddling stolen goods. Also...the people at the studios who license us the music have the Internet too and may even read this board, and they would not be happy to see posts about stolen versions of their property. See where that is going? Stealing is wrong, AND bad for business—ours. Recently we’ve been asked about whether it’s OK to link to youtube clips given the abundance of copyright violations there; the answer is yes but please use your judgment.

Even if this was a sell-out, it wouldn’t be the fastest in Intrada history. A decade or two ago they would have some titles sell out the same evening they were posted. I think Lee Holdridge’s In Search of Peace was one (but I think it was limited to only 1000 copies or maybe 1200.) But maybe the most impressive of all was when that happened to Intrada’s expansion of Explorers, which was limited to 3000(!) copies! Announced Monday evening and I think sold out late that same evening. As relayed by Doug in the recent Matinee Soundtrack Spotlight with Joe Dante as a guest (https://goldsmithodyssey.buzzsprout.com/159614/10697106-odyssey-soundtrack-spotlight-matinee-1993-with-joe-dante-and-marshall-harvey), the Intrada team was celebrating the next morning…until Joe Dante himself called, looking to pick up a copy, and pretty upset that he’d missed it when it had only been put up for ordering the night before! That rapid sell-out is what prompted Intrada to revise their whole limited edition approach to “available for as long as quantities and interest remain” instead of publishing a set number each release was limited to. They repressed Explorers so that everyone who wanted a copy at the time could get one. And of course there were many people at the time who complained about the value of their copies being “devalued”… Yavar

Both YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES (500 Units) and EXPLORERS sold out within the same day of their releases. You must be referring to the early promo edition of YSH. I don't remember it being quite that fast (I'm not quite a Broughton completist yet somehow got a copy!) but I'll take your word for it. I think Explorers selling out 3000 copies within a matter of hours is rather more impressive though. INCHON (an earlier cd release) was another title that sold out virtually overnight. You're right, and I recall people were upset. I remember Roger saying something like, "How could we have predicted 1500 copies for this title would disappear in a matter of hours? The first 1500 copies of the original pressing took 10 years to sell out!" (Or something along those lines.) Yavar
