I couldn't be happier. I have never managed to get my hands on any version of this great score, except for the main title arrangement on Moviola I. What a feast!

I used to work at Tower Records in NYC in the 1980’s in the Soundtrack section. Whenever I would play any John Barry albums, without fail someone would come up and ask me what was playing, and buy that album. Especially “Somewhere in Time” or “Out of Africa”. I don’t know if Barry was our best seller, but I knew I would sell a copy if I played it.

I can't remember if Tower Records had the Southern Cross LP of Body Heat or not, I have it and bought it back in the day, but can't remember where I picked it up. (Actually it was probably Footlight records, now that I think about it)

Wonderful. I'll add this to my (short) list of must-buys, along with the Conans and ST:TOS box.

Many were predicting King Kong. At least they got the right composer!

How long it's take to make this set possible? Any pleasant or unpleasant memories about working this fantastic set?

I started on this in October, thinking I had the entire score on the multi-track. About halfway through (I'm slow sometimes) I realized that the score was recorded in order and reel 1 was missing. That wasn't a fun realization, neither was the phone call saying we didn't have everything. Fortunately there were some other elements that we were able to use and that allowed us to get the missing pieces.

The most pleasant part about this whole thing though is knowing that the original album that Barry prepared and wanted released is finally now available.

Then there was that time you threw a patio chair through the window to get into...wait, was that in the movie? I get so confused. wink

It is gratifying that the seedy s.lasher version is no longer of importance
(except for the good liner notes by Mr. Brown).

Thanks, Neil! Now we wait for Lukas and his impressions...
And again - it's sound so fresh - it's just 0:30 or 1:00 from each track, but I can't compare it with all others versions (which are available in Internet big grin) - so many to discover!

I apologize for not already knowing the answer, but why was Barry's intended LP never released?

S.Lasher didn't want to pay Mr. Wallin's fee for the approved mix.
S.Lasher made a new mix instead.

What, no "Ladd Company Logo"?

Just kidding!

Seriously, this is a fantastic surprise and I've already ordered it. Now I don't have to listen to the less-than-stellar rip I made from my LP when I want to hear it.

Thanks FSM!
