Hey Scott,
Thanks for the high rez art, though not too many I needed for this batch. (just The Great Train Robbery) I passed on TS3 and Batman Forever as I just couldn't make the colors/saturation levels work for me. Since this is a recent thread that you're keeping up with, thought I'd share a few constructive criticisms and requests if you don't mind:

I'm a 3D artist for games (and do part time storyboards) - Imo, some of your scans are bit "harsh", the contrast is a tad high. For example I couldn't make Broken Arrow work for me... too green, and couldn't really minimize the areas effected that easily. Some cover art is just not very user friendly, such as that one, and Batman Forever as you mentioned does look like a real pain.

Some of my requests (none are represented at Album Art Exchange or anywhere on the web in high quality):
Conan the Barbarian (re-recording) alternate cover
Batman Returns (LLL)
The Abyss
Agora
Air Force One
Cobb
The Fly/Fly 2 (both individual releases and combo)
Harry Potter 1 & 2
LOTR complete recordings (booklet covers)
Man Without a Face
M:I 2 (score of course)
Mummy 1 & 2
Nixon
Raging Bull
Twilight Zone (FSM)

Thanks for all your work, finding nice high rez art definitely adds to my enjoyment of collecting soundtracks!

Sketchkid -- two different people have posted "The Abyss" on Album Art Exchange a while back.

Your post reminded me that I needed to upload my scan of "The Man Without A Face." I'm sure Scott H.'s would be better, but perhaps my scan will do for now. Here is the 800 x 800:
http://www.albumartexchange.com/covers.php?id=223247&q=id%3A223244.223245.223246.223247

Theres a 600 x 600 up there too.

Batman Returns (LLL)

Depends on your definition of "high quality", but LLL posted a 799x800 artwork image when they announced the disc.

You mean this? http://www.albumartexchange.com/covers.php?id=179804&q=conan+barbarian

Thanks for the feedback. I do my best to match the color and sharpness of each cover.
Do you have any suggestions?

No, I suppose for that release the illustrated version was the alternate. (which was inexplicably reversed for the Destroyer release).

I don't have any experience with high rez scanning, so I can't offer much there. I use Photoshop for most things. For me, it just comes down to eyeballing the colors and contrast. An invaluable tool I use all the time is Image-Adjustments-Replace Color. It's the best way to isolate a certain color (you can further isolate by selecting a section). Smoke, etc still presents the biggest challenge, as I'm sure you've found.

Literally what I'll do is a side by side comparison with the best quality cover I have at the time vs yours. Most of the time, by adjusting yours a bit here and there I use yours. But for the examples I listed above, despite the higher resolution, I found the original more pleasing to my eye.

One thing which I try to take into account is what I'm guessing the original digital art looked like vs the printed booklet in my hands. No doubt there's some differences there, sometimes I go with the former, sometimes the latter.

I've scanned some covers I can't find from my cds but I stink! I'm not even close to your worst cover scanned, lol

Thanks for taking the time, Scott, I mean it, your collection is always the first place where I look when I'm looking for covers, usually scores, but lately some others like the Iron Maiden albums! wink

Hi! I requested a handful of covers a couple months ago but I understand if you have to get the albums out of storage.

Don't worry - take your time! You're doing everyone here a huge favor. smile

-Amazing Stories - Vol. 2 (Intrada)
-Conquest of/Battle for the Planet of the Apes (FSM)
-Beneath the Planet of the Apes (FSM)
-Escape from the Planet of the Apes (VCL)... this one is no longer a priority since Varese recently posted a hi-res image on Facebook
-Force 10 from Navarone (FSM)... the one now on AAX is subpar
-Mission: Impossible (Elfman)
-Space Hunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (VCL)
-Time After Time (FSM)
-Twilight Zone: The Movie (FSM)
-Where Eagles Dare/Operation Crossbow (FSM)

And one more if you have it:
-Cape Fear (Bernstein/Herrmann)

I decided to pay it forward and uploaded all of the iTunes Ron Jones Project covers as well as the individual Elfman/Burton covers. smile

Cool! I have a question: how do I get the keyword "soundtrack" listed along with the composer's name on AAX?

I'd appreciate any help with this. smile

When posting on AAX, you type 'Soundtrack' in the Composer/DJ field like this:

Composer/DJ: Soundtrack

Actually I have one (for the moment) hehe:

High Road to China (BSX)

It's a beautiful cover I scanned but it doesn't "shine", it definitly needs your skills wink

Thanks a ton!

Incidentally, for some reason, every now and then when I change the artwork for a particular album in iTunes, one track will all of a sudden be rendered unplayable. Thankfully, I have backup copies on an external drive but it's still a mystery.

Just now, I had to replace a track in Beneath... and one in Conquest... weird.
