This is a terrific score I can't wait to get on CD. My only disappointment is why Scream 4 wasn't of the same caliber, considering Beltrami can usually do this sound so well.
Being one of the kids 'who was there' when the original TV film was shown on telly in the 70's when I was about 10, had the shit scared out of me and buzzed with everyone in school the next few days, I've been looking forward to AND dreading seeing this new version with equal measure. The ability to mess things up AND ruin my childhood memories of this tale loomed very large indeed. Just got back and thought it was quite good overall. Kinda old fashioned style horror film, with lots of people 'doing stupid stuff' moments and I agree that they showed way too much of the critters and far too early. Although I've never really been a big fan of Beltrami so far, I think this is the best horror score I've heard by him. The Goldsmith sound is certainly present in many cues, the finale track has got a cool Herrmann vibe to it and it's PROPER ORCHESTRAL shit, with ACTUAL INSTRUMENTS being heard while watching the film. After loving Soul Surfer to bits and now this, I think Beltrami may just be hitting his stride in regard to my personal preferences. The new Thing film just got a tad more interesting.
Dang, Amazon has the score pushed back to October 18 now ? Grrrrrrrrrrrr.
Sumbitch, I was planning on ordering that soon.
Does anyone have any info on when this is actually coming out? It's still out of stock at Amazon and SAE still has it as a preorder. I have a SAE order that's pending until this is available...

Don't know, Amazon says the title usually ships in 6-10 days...which is quite strange at this point. Hopefully they'll have their copies in today? Maybe it's just a day delay?
Okay does anyone have any information about the release of this score on CD?
As of right now, Saturday October 22nd, the CD's status on Amazon.com is unavailable. Originally it was to be released on October 18th, this past Tuesday, and even that was a delayed date. Since the 18th, however, Amazon has listed it as "unavailable -- will ship within 6-10 days" and now, it is completely unavailable.
Screenarchives currently features the item listed as a "pre-order," even though the release date has come and gone.
Has anyone actually ordered this CD? Has anyone received it?
I pre-ordered the title, and it still hasn't shipped.
Well apparently even though the release date has come and gone, it is still unavailable everywhere. I fully admit that I'm an impatient SOB, but this just seems very strange.
Just heard word that the CD release is probably cancelled.
Apparently Lakeshore was ready to go with the CD, but the studio has put the score release on indefinite hold, presumably because of the below average box office performance of the film.

Thanks for bringing a smile to my face during this difficult time.
No probs!
I've got an SAE order on hold for this too, with SOUL SURFER and THE THING (2011) in it, but I remember when Lakeshore released DRAG ME TO HELL the date was pushed back a couple of times and I was hoping it was just that kind of thing again.
It's completely missing now from amazon.com. Weirdly amazon.co.uk and SAE have it listed as Nov 8th, which it didn't say the other day when I last checked. Hopefully it's just being delayed to coincide with the DVD release, whenever that is.
Oops, found it at amazon.com. "Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available." It didn't turn up when I tried to search for it though (I got to this page through a recommendation on the HUGO score CD page.)

That truly sucks but... Lakeshore has released scores to plenty of bombs before I believe? Maybe they'll time it to come out with the DVD

Dang! Just as I was discovering Beltrami! Hopefully it eventually gets pressed.
