Well it wouldn't surprise me if it was Full Frame. They did the same thing on THE ABDICATION.

I own THE ABDICATION on DVD from the Warner Archives and I can assure you it's anamorphic 1.85, not full frame or P&S.

Thank you for clarifying that. Now I will consider buying it. It would have been a shame to see Geoffrey Unsworth's beautiful cinematography destroyed by a bad transfer.

This film also features one of my favorite Nino Rota scores.

And everyone is safe to buy Agatha, which will absolutely be anamorphic 1.85.

I have a legit DVD from Germany that is anamorphic and I'm 100% certain that the Warner Archive version will be, too.

So it'll be the same except for some editing - I've heard the European version is 2 minutes longer to accommodate an explicit sex scene and a different ending - Agatha is replaced with a look-a-like robot.

The clip from Abdication is actually 16x9 - it's just being shown horizontally compressed (check out the extra-long face). When they made the clip they forgot to expand it width-wise.

The clip from Men Don't Leave is 'scope within 16x9, so their listing for it is incorrect, it should be listed as 16x9 letterbox.

As with all movie sales sites, typos and listing inconsistencies do crop up.

You can't trust the clips on the Warner Archive site to properly display the films' true aspect ratios. As mentioned above the clips are often squeezed, or just plain incorrect.

They also have showed a panned and scanned print of Otto Preminger's Skidoo and explained that this was the only version they could get from Paramount.

TCM has shown "Skidoo" at 2.35:1 within the past year.

[EDIT 08/18/10: See correction below.]

Just got 10 DVDs from Warner Archive as they sent me a coupon for 40% off.

Among the titles I purchased were AGATHA and THE ABDICATION.

I'm glad to report all are 1:85:1 and look fantastic even though they aren't high def.

I also ordered the following:

MEN DON'T LEAVE, MADE IN HEAVEN, HEART BEAT, THE PICASSO SUMMER, A MAN AND A WOMAN: 20 YEARS LATER, SOLDIER IN THE RAIN, THE SEARCH and THE GATHERING/THE GATHERING PART II.

I think some of us in this very thread were 100% certain that it would be in its proper ratio - no surprise here.

"MADE IN HEAVEN"

Finally some love for an Alan Rudolph film on this board.

By the way, does anyone know the date when Skidoo ran letterboxed on TCM? I've taped it every time I saw it listed and have never been able to get a widescreen copy (they only letterbox the end credits).

I don't believe the person who said it ran letterbox - I, too, taped it each time it was shown and it was always that disgusting pan and scan print.

I checked my copy, and I was wrong about the letterboxing. I was remembering the opening/closing credits, and thinking that the entire film was letterboxed. Olive Films has announced "Skidoo" for DVD release as part of their current licensing deal with Paramount. Hopefully that will produce a letterboxed version.

Let's face it, if you're gonna sit through a movie that has something called the "Garbage Can Ballet" you wanna see the WHOLE ballet.

I had to draw the line somewhere. I didn't get MIKE'S MURDER, SPHINX or ONE ON ONE which were on my list.

I'm gonna get UNDER and SPHINX in my next order. I was 9 when UNDER came out and I remember liking it then even though it wasn't great. Always wanted to see SPHINX.
