Well, the matter certainly warrants discussion even if one has not heard the cd.

Not really..

Unless you've heard the CD yourself, how can you offer any sort of INFORMED or INTELLIGENT comment about it?

Answer: YOU CAN'T

It's that simple....

GET IT?

Hm, then how come you waste so much time with showing me how uninformed my comments are instead of giving proper answers to those two individuals in this topic who already HEARD the cd and brought this matter to this forum? Don't you think that this would make a little more sense according to your logic?

Notice, he doesn't question the logic of my statement...

Because he can't...

And at least those two HAVE HEARD the CD...

something you can't claim at this point...

Fair enough, but you make it look like i criticised the cd before i heard it. I didn't! I was just expressing my concerns about the matter based on what i heard from these INFORMED people and that is perfectly okay in my book. After all, we both want the same: an informed answer from those who know!

I just want to clarify my stance on this issue as I have no problems with this release whatsoever.

I know my second post in this thread said 'problem solved' but that was more in response to the unhelpful answers, particularly Jeff Bond who I thought would of provided something informative about the issue at hand ....not to worry though.

I should check the La La Land Poseidon Adventure page again just to be sure but I think it just says that the score is presented in stereo, not that the source of this release was necessarily all in stereo, so fine, I don't feel misled at all about that as the score is presented in stereo.

I just happen to be genuinely interested in learning whether some tracks were still only available in mono and if a 'fake' stereo method was used in the processing of these particular cues.

I've looked at the wavs for some of these tracks using the waves SPD (stereo position display) plugins and there is quite a difference in some of them, which is the only reason I feel some of these may not be in genuine stereo.

Perhaps if the thread did not have the silly little 'thumb down' icon, these issues/concerns might not be viewed as an attack on this release and addressed a little more seriously.

Now if MV or La La Land feel we have no right to any explanation or that there is no need for an explanation, well fair enough, I'm more than delighted to have a fresh incarnation of this score as it happens to be one of my all time favourites.

In regards to my unhelpful response, I'm often amused by posts that take me to task for not overseeing elements and materials and otherwise ensuring that absolutely everything possible has been done to make a given release of the highest possible quality. If you look at these releases you will see that I do one thing--write the liner notes. In most cases when it gets down to the nitty gritty of describing exactly how the release has been assembled and from what elements, the CD producer will produce and edit that information himself or provide it to me verbatim. I think the last CD I got a producer credit on was Fantastic Voyage, so I welcome any and all critiques regarding the elements and editing of that album.

Still don't have the CD but the main title sample in LLL website sounds fake stereo to me. I hate when they do that

It was the original post that mentioned you Jeff as a potential witness for the defense.

I know you only did the liner notes on this release and although along the way you may have gained some extra insight, etc, it was certainly no guarantee, that was the only reason I felt your post had been 'unhelpful'.
I just wish your first response could of been more like what you just posted, which was informative.

My intention was certainly not to offend, I'm just suprised at how this issue is being treated that's all.

Cheers.

What in the blue hell does Simon Cowell (circa. 2019) have to do with this thread...?

why are people laughing at the original's poster question?

I would also like to know if this new release of the POSEIDON score is, as advertised, in real STEREO and not a fake mix I can do myself with the computer, specially those terrific MAIN and END TITLES, cause I willpurchase (again!) this score or not depending on that fact.

What mike pickup was used for the musical intro to the picture? Could a broader sound have been deemed more suitable for the main title as opposed to the more dramatic moments being played out, where closer mikes to various players could enhance the drama more? Yeah, I know, DESPERADO!

Well, I just listened to both takes of the main title and in my opinion, the sound is definitely improved on the new LaLaLand release.

So I don't give a shit if it's fake stereo or whatever techniques were used to create this sound.

Listen to the samples on LaLaLand's site. If you don't like what you hear, don't order it.
