I wonder if The Power will get a separate re-issue someday now that the original masters were found? Having heard all of the sound clips, this is the only score from the entirety of the box that I'd care to own, in all honesty. (can't justify blowing nearly $200 all at once. I think I might get Ben Hur instead)

While I love the whole set I gotta say that the complete (and in amazing sound) score of The Power is one of the absolute highlights. While I'd like to think it'd do well as a separate release, if it comes out at all it'd probably be in a few years after the Rozsa Treasury has become very rare and hard to find. It did after all get a prior individual release of 2/3 of it...

We have no say or control over whether or not any of these masters will be reissued down the road.

I do not believe there are any plans to do so right now.

Now that Ben-Hur is done, I can safely say we have released all there is to release of Rozsa's work at M-G-M over three decades (1948-1967)!

The Ben-Hur project encompasses not only WB studio masters but some rare elements that we got from the Rozsa collection at Syracuse, which is where a tape of the marches and the Kloss Vol. 1 album master ended up.

Hee hee hee - I lied - maybe someday someone will release the library music recorded for Torpedo Run which included some obscure Rozsa M-G-M cues!

Yeah, Lukas, I was going to call you on that! smile

But I didn't want to spoil your wallowing in the triumph of your new BEN-HUR set! smile

Still.....you and I know that the cues from TORPEDO RUN will NEVER be released in the future---unless YOU might combine them with another WWII score from MGM on, perhaps, your Counterpoint label. Bronislau Kaper's delightful score for DON'T GO NEAR THE WATER (also starring Glenn Ford) or Stothart's THEY WERE EXPENDABLE for John Wayne, might be possibilities.

Lukas,
Do you ever waking up in a cold sweat from a nightmare that there's yet more Rozsa MGM material to be released? ;-) Congrats on this milestone - it's truly phenomenal.

Chris.

Thanks - but no - I do have a recurring dream where I am still in our Culver City office trying to pack it up and send CDs to Craig and get rid of the desks and furniture and crap and office computers...

I am not kidding, it is some sort of trauma I am still living through.

I don't want to start a new thread here, but Lukas will your participation in the Counterpoint label continue? For that matter, will the label continue?

The recording found with Garcia's Atlantis: The Lost Empire is much more cost-effective and has the majority of the score on it.

Lukas.....I sympathize completely, but, unfortunately, I suspect you will never get rid of that dream, even as the years pass.

In my long career, I used to be on location a lot, sometimes moving from one city/hotel to another in the course of many weeks or months. Even now, many decades later, I still have what I call "packing dreams," where I must quickly get all my belongings into my bags, without forgetting things along the way, before I move on. Logically, this should be easy, but in my dreams, the bags are never big enough to hold the things I arrived with! And, the things that are most important to me to take along are lost somewhere, and I can't find them to pack.

I have this dream/nightmare 3-4 times a year. Wonder what it all means. A dream analyst could probably have a field day! smile

Glad I grabbed it when it first came out. Love this set. Thanks again for this release and all the Rozsa releases before and after.

I like Lost Empire but would be willing to give it up for a complete The Power.

Would love All the Brothers Were Valient and Crest of the Wave too. And a remastered The VIPs and the compilation LP.

Or hell, a 3 CD King of Kings with the Rhino + alts + LP.

True; but it sounds like crap.

Don't know who I'm responding to, but I'm sure the original tapes are of far better quality than whatever was used to make that single-disc FSM CD. The mastering is already done, the tracklist already compiled, and the liner notes already written, so it wouldn't be anywhere nearly as costly to produce a reissue. Getting a new license, new artwork and pressing new CDs would be the only concerns - I imagine it would be right up LLL's alley since MV is a big fan of George Pal.
