Thanks, I meant to bump this the other day for the same reason.

I'm also very interested in STORYTELLER. Can you give us an update, MV?

Still working on it. We have about 75 projects in various forms of production. Storyteller is approaching the finish line and should be out by years end. TV projects are much harder to deal with than films due to all the content.

Any update please, guys?

The last thing La-La Land said about this release was in March and it wasn't good news. The release is "still in Muppet Hell. Don't expect anytime soon," they said on this message board.

NOoooOOooo!
Whatever "Muppet Hell" means, it doesn't sound good.
I guess it's licensing trouble?
Man, I really hope this will be released one day. One of my all-time favorite TV shows and scores.

Mmmmhhh... "Muppet Hell" could also mean being trapped for eternity in the booth with Statler and Waldorf while listening to Fozzy Bears infamous stand-up routines smile !!!

Well, "The Storyteller" was produced by Henson Associates, which later became The Jim Henson Company, which was sold to the German company EM.TV & Merchandising AG in 2000. Three years later, the Henson family repurchased the company, but soon sold the rights to the classic Muppets to Disney. So it wouldn't surprise me if the ownership of this stuff is fairly labyrinthian.

I thought I addressed this in another thread.

The project has been canceled until further notice.

I don't know... that might be pretty funny. At least for a while.

Hadn't seen it, sorry to hear it's trapped in some form of muppet hell.

Fingers crossed it works out and your work on it can be rewarded and we can enjoy Portmans wonderful music.

I guess and fear you're right! What you describe here, sounds like a perfect explanation for the cancelation of the CD.

Rats! I was really looking forward to it. As much as I love (most of) the creative output from the Disney company, I don't like their politics concerning scores.
Although I certainly understand, that if it was a more profitablel market, they would release more scores in bigger formats. But I guess people who are interested in the Rachel Portman's music from THE STORYTELLER belong to a minority as big as - let's say - people who like catfood and beans for breakfast.

You're right! It could be worse!
One could get reincarnated as Beaker or as Animal's Drum Set...

I hope there's something from everyone's favorite french composer among those projects.

I don't think Maurice Jarre wrote anything for The Storyteller. wink

The only properties to go to Disney were the Muppets and Bear in the Big Blue House alone. The rest remained intact through those other transactions.

I'm very disappointed to hear that this project is on hold. It was a great series, with great music.
