what happened to Varese as a label? They had a great run. The soundtrack game would have been quite bereft had they not been around, for many glorious years I may add. Let's just say they didn't age as gracefully as we would have hoped, sadly. Note. Incidentally, not one single issue with any of those early - many decades old now - CDs that still have pride of place on my shelves.

Maybe you trying to order something that is sold out due site inventory? Yes, that's it. I was trying to order RUDY and L.A. CONFIDENTIAL and every time I put them in my cart I got the same error message at checkout. I then tried to order Klaus Badelt's THE TIME MACHINE on its own and lo and behold a shipping option became available. I then added the Goldsmiths one at a time and in both cases I got the error message. So I wasted I don't know how much time trying to checkout with the Goldsmith titles. It's a lousy, buggy website. By comparison, the international Varese site told me that PRESUMED INNOCENT had sold out after I had put it in my basket which is what the US one should have.

I had the same problem. I found no apparent solution. But the Varese system that emails you that you still have items sitting in your shopping cart waiting to be purchased is working just fine. Yes, that just adds salt to the wound.

By comparison, the international Varese site told me that PRESUMED INNOCENT had sold out after I had put it in my basket which is what the US one should have. Great system Varese has. When you put a sold out item in your cart (one that is NOT marked sold out of course), the error message doesn't tell you that the item is sold out. It tells you that the order can't be shipped to your address. What could be more intuitive, right? Varese's suggested solution is to drop out each item from your order, one by one, until the system tells you that it CAN ship. And if you are ordering a half dozen items, and TWO are sold out, good luck finding the exact two that will give the "OK to ship" signal. There are 15 possible combinations of 2 out of six items. The other alternative is to add one item at a time to your order, and attempt to check out after each item is added to see if the system will give the "OK to ship." Somehow, every other website I've ever ordered from does not have this problem. In their response, Varese also stated that "You can also let us know which items you are ordering, and we will be happy to check and see if it's available for purchase at this time." I included a screen shot of my shopping cart right in the email that I sent, but apparently they still couldn't figure out what items I was ordering in order to tell me whether they were in stock.

My order of 5 CDs arrived, this time in a single-layer-bubble-packed envelope instead of a box like previous orders. 2 of the cases have sizable cracks in them which is unfortunate, but at least jewel cases are replaceable. Still need to make sure the discs are all in good shape.

I had 4 discs in a single ply bubble mailer with no additional wrapping... No obvious cracks but I was short on time and simply put them on the shelf... Shipping in USA

A lot of people seem gluttons for punishment. I no longer buy directly from Varese and I much prefer it that way. Yes, there is a small premium to pay, but a mere 5 smackers seems a tiny price for quality service, no fuss nor muss.
