I’ve attended the premiere tonight and can assure everyone that Chris‘ music for this is nothing short of a masterpiece. It’s all you would expect from him and much more! I’m still overwhelmed by the experience. I seriously hope there’ll be a release so everyone can enjoy this absolutely magnificent score!
I just returned to my hotel after attending the concert. I did expect that Chris would write something good but not that it would be this good. This is the kind of score that does not get written anymore. A powerhouse score that's part Golden Age, part very modern and perfectly suited to Murnau's classic.
A big thank you to Christopher Young and I am just glad that I had the privilege to attend the premiere of one of his finest works. And on top of that: What a nice guy!
Those excerpts are very impressive! They don't sound even a little bit "modern" to me - if anything, they remind me a little bit of "The Monster Squad" by Bruce Broughton and how that (at least in part) kind of captured that Universal International horror feel.
Fingers crossed for a recorded release! Something like this reminds me that Christopher Young is doubly talented in comparison to any of the blokes on the "Greatest Score Ever" thread that seems like a nightmare of opinions to navigate.

I asked Chris if there will be a CD and he replied with a thumbs up!

So fantastic to hear this! I've been an absolutely huge fan of Chris Young's film music since the '80s. Really looking forward to a score release.

Don't get your hopes up too soon. As much as Chris would love to get a recording out they did not have a professional recording team at this event. So it would mean a complete new recording. Chris said that he would love to do this with this orchestra as they already know the music. Let's keep our fingers crossed because this score needs to be published.

I also think it sounds amazing but from the clips at least, he's evoking Bartok's style of chromatic harmony and poly modalism... which I totally LOVE! I also hope this sees a recording because the little bits I've heard make me want to hear the full thing.
I just came back from the screening/concert, it was an absolute blast! The restored film looked gorgeous and Young's composition was equally frightening and beautiful. Such a powerful work. Would love to have a Bluray of the movie with Christopher Young's score.

Young is an amazing composer, deserving of wider recognition than he got (outside the horror and film score fandom). This music sounds amazing and I hope they at least manage a digital release (CD is ideal but something is better than nothing).
