    SEASON 4:

All episodes from now on should be scored by Arthur Morton (unless something is missing or inaccurate on IMDb). So, no need for redundancy at this point; I have removed his credit from all episodes and Lionel Newman as well, as it appears he is no longer conducting the scores (as he gets no screen credit). If anything changes, I will note it for each occurrence.

I realized far far too late into this that I needed to start labeling the themes used, for suite purposes. So a little further into this super mega batch, I started labeling them.

Goddamn what an unapologetic bastard Martin Peyton was. Surely one of the best evil characters to have ever graced television. One you love to hate. He's only got a few episodes left, before his character leaves Peyton Place.

    Commentary:
Though I don't care for the show, I stuck around for many Mr. Peyton scenes, especially the dynamic between him and Lee Webber, or "Webbah" as he pronounces it (I do a spot impression, by the way).

I got to say I hate how it ended for Lee Webber. I don't recall seeing or hearing anything that gave definitive proof he killed Mr. Peyton's granddaughter, unless I missed it while skimming for music. He was an interesting, although troubled character, with potential.

Mr. Peyton: "If my time has come, I'm ready. If I could change any part of my life, I wouldn't -- not any of it, not even this. As one bleak consolation, that if you pull that trigger, you will pay for my granddaughter's death. You'll pay with your life. That's all I ask."

I have to admire such an ambitious project! It is helpful to have the character themes identified. It seems in the first seasons that the thematic material is less specific to a single character or couple, as Waxman's material (Allison's and Selena's themes for example) seem to score a variety of different characters and situations. Apart from the titles, I wonder, when does the Waxman material disappear from the series? Incredible work Justin!

The Waxman material never disappears from the series, the familiar eight-note theme can be hear in full or fragments, for example, in the final season as well.

I contacted you assuming you were impatient. You replied back with a photo after I told you I had no privacy and didn't know when I would, then again deleted it. I'm done. Blocking you.

  • 9:35 in.

And that concludes the series. There were no TV movies or spin-offs of this version of the soap.
In the 1970's there was another version called "Return to Peyton Place", which as I recall reading, had some of the original cast but playing new interpretations of their characters and this new show had apparently nothing to do with this 1960's version. Odd indeed.
No composer listing on IMDb for the 1970's show and no listing online elsewhere. BMI and ASCAP only turned up one composer for "Return to Peyton Place", which may or may not be an uncredited contributor to the sequel film by the same name (Eddie Karam). No episodes are available for it. It lasted two seasons.

I hope to return to Peyton Place one day...

Tomorrow I will be the last day I can draw it out, posting the links to other threads and additional composers via BMI and ASCAP, like I normally do.

Doubling back to a season one episode that had no original score and was an a track job, because I enjoyed the source music and decided to cover it:

    Episode #6
    NO COMPOSER CREDITED

    Highlights:
  • 0:25 in.
  • 3:20 in.
  • 14:17 in. And the light rock source cue that immediately follows after the commercial break.
  • 15:23 in. More light rock source music.
  • 18:01 in. Still more.
  • 22:42 in. Yet more.
