Boy, Debney and McNeely love to mimic Jerry Goldsmith and James Horner don't they?!
Most of the sound samples offered sound like Wrath or Khan Deux. LOL! Not that its a bad thing. big grin

I suspect it’s more a case that Seth MacFarlane wants those Goldsmith and Horner pieces imitated... smile

Seth is a huge raving score collector who even sends us suggestions every so often. His geek badge is fully intact. lol

I get this mother hen protective thing going for some reason whenever people hate on MacFarlane, partly because the hating is usually so hacky, but mainly because even if you don't like his work, the guy is arguably the biggest (or at least highest profile) champion of old-fashioned, traditional orchestral scoring working in Hollywood right now.

I never cared for his type of comedy or animated shows. But he supports and produces science programs, given me the "Star Trek" I wanted since 2009 in Orville and has great taste in music. I'm a fan now.

Can he admit -- he danced around it in an interview - why Ron Jones is no longer scoring for him?

I hope it's not a break up. If ever there was a composer I was hoping would score at least one episode of "The Orville"...

Yes, I also never found any of his animated comedy shows funny in the slightest.
I've never gotten all the way through his western parody either.
But with The Orville, credit where it's due, I think it's the best Star Trek style TV series I've seen in many a year.
Just honest to goodness fun with likeable characters, cool FX and beautifully nostalgic scoring.
So I'm a bit of a convert too.
And if he loves film scores, he's 'one if us...one of us...one of us...'

Same here! Although with the USPS still running slower than usual, I don't expect to receive it until some time next week frown

My order shipped as well.

I wonder if it will arrive at my house before it shows up on Spotify on Friday?

Oh that's right! I forgot about it being available digitally! In that case, it won't be disappointing at all if the USPS runs late again smile

Unfortunately USPS is terribly unreliable at present. I have a very important Priority Mail package that is now in its 16th day of transit. It seems to be getting worse after the holidays rather than better.
