It's still in him, no doubt! A Hidden Life from 2019, and News of the World from 2020 are the proof of it. The latter score is hardly mentioned even on this forum which I find strange because it is a very good score.
It is, and it was one of my runner-ups last year, but it is hampered by an excessive soundtrack presentation.
Oh don't worry, I will be spreading my News Of The World around here once it arrives from Intrada I really wanna see the film too. Waiting for Netflix to announce when it will be available to view.
As mentioned above, I too have really enjoyed his fantasy adventure scores to the Fantastic Beasts and Snow White films, as well as his fantastic Nutcracker score.
Isn't that cultural appropriation and a big no, no nowadays?
I don't think that means what you think it means.
You can teach me.
If 10 came out today, and if the Bo Derek equivalent* still had her hair in cornrows she and the filmmakers be eviscerated on social media on stealing a black hairstyle. Hans Zimmer's score for The Lion King had a lot of African stylings... not quite the same thing. He was setting a mood, not making a fashion statement. *We're taking it as read that this hypothetical 2021 10 casts another slim cishet Caucasian blonde female. And doesn't cast, let's say.. Miranda Hart.

But Zimmer isn't from Africa (unless you go back 200,000 years) or an African American. According to modern sensibilities, a white man shouldn't have composed a film set in Africa.

By that logic, Ludwig Goransson shouldn't have scored Black Panther...

Listened and I like it, if is not as good as Treasure Planet, Dinosaur or even, Atlantis (my favorite of the JNH/Disney scores).
Is pretty much a mix between the Snow Falling on the Cedars (the ethnical part) with a bunch electronics and some really good action/emotional writting.

And it sounds JNH.
Yep, pretty much what I got out of the samples. A mix between classic JNH and modern droning.
