That's nice and all but...wish it was a complete series release. There, I said it, and I don't need an LLL surrogate to lecture me on all the whys it couldn't be done, so get off my wishlist lawn! Damn kids.

Do you know where the rest of the material is?

I hate to be the one to say this but the customer base for 60s tv sets are dwindling. We love producing these sets but we know there is only so much of a market for them.

I for one would like to express thanks to you for continuing to do them anyway! And correct me if I'm wrong MV, but haven't you said that you're considering a Volume 2 for Wild Wild West, since V1 did well enough to sell out?

I'm sorry to hear (again) about how disappointing sales were for Lost in Space. Frankly I'm surprised (yet impressed) you even went to the huge expense of a definitive complete set for that series, when the 2 CD set had to be sold off at clearance prices. And that set has more than one JOHN WILLIAMS sci-fi score on it! Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea has no Williams and only one Jerry Goldsmith score. I'm surprised in this day and age why anyone would expect more than a four (or maybe six, tops) disc set, at least for an initial volume.

Those of you who want MORE Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea music out there, I bet nothing would make that argument more effectively than this set selling out like Wild Wild West did! But if a 4 disc set can't manage to sell out at 1000 copies, then I guarantee you a 12 disc (and much more expensive) set isn't going to! So help make this one sell out and see what happens then. It wouldn't be the first time LLL produced a Volume 2 for a TV series...they've done that quite a few times, in fact. I'm sure that Jeff and Neil would me more than happy to work on another volume (assuming enough surviving tapes exist, of course).

I'll be honest about where I am coming from personally: I've got no nostalgic connection to this series. I'm buying this because I love Goldsmith and Leith Stevens and a few of the other composers I'm interested in to lesser degrees. If this were a 12 disc complete series scoring set for $150 (even though that's a pretty good deal!), it might give even *my* Goldsmith completism pause. 4 discs for $50-60 is totally a sweet spot -- SOLD! smile

Are you saying this will be everything that was available? Including music-only stems?

I'm saying there was quite a bit of material we never found, so a "complete series release" could never happen.

Voyage to the bottom of the sea
4cd set various composers

Advise & Consent's gonna go ape shit for this.

As this was a Fox series, presumably it snuck in under the wire before the Disney sale?

OM(F)G!!!! wink

One would think that with all of these old 60s (and 70s) sci-fi shows available on cable and streaming apps, that there would be a whole new audience out there discovering them? But then again, maybe not? Case point: My brother bought the Blu-ray edition of Batman (with Adam West and Burt Ward) a few years ago and showed them to our young nephews...the kids couldn't even make it through one episode. "This is stupid. This is lame. This isn't Batman!" were their comments. Oh, well...their loss, I guess.

This is very exciting news! Most of my fondness for the Irwin Allen TV series are due to their great roster of composers, so I'll be happy to dive into this set and will no doubt find much music to enjoy. I really don't have familiarity with VOYAGE as a TV show, so outside of the Goldsmith score, this will be all new music for me.

So, I missed out on the WILD WILD WEST set... should I maybe seek it out from secondary sellers?

Thanks. And of the usable recordings found, this will be a selection?

I believe there are 13 scores included in the set and are presented as complete as we could make them, for about five hours worth of music. There were a couple of third season scores where only a couple cues survived but we included those because they comprised some very familiar music from the show. There's also a previously unknown main and end title by Jerry Goldsmith that was never used on the show--at least in this form. There should be a complete track list and samples up on the La-La-Land site soon.

Why would LLL set their FB page so you have to log in to see their posts? Not everyone does the social media thing. Anyways I can access the other link with the pic. This will make many ppl happy I am sure!

Only a thousand copies. That's kinda shocking.

Super limited to 1000 like the old days. These will sell out quick and will force people not to wait.

Man, I cannot wait for this! This set, plus all of the movie stuff that's been released over the years that Voyage used as library, you can really cobble together a great representation of the series.

I know you guys are as big of fans as I am, so I know you found everything you could. Before I even hear it, I know I'll flip over it. I know i'll have may answer in a few weeks, but I'm gonna ask anyway....did you find any and include library music that was used here and there in the latter two seasons? There is one cue used in the third season primarily. It almost sounded like it was going to be on the LIS set in the library cue section ("The Monster" by Randy Newman - which WAS used in Voyage third year but isn't what I was looking for). It was in The Fossil Men right when they were blowing the missile room door open. Jeff, you gotta know what I'm talking about. smile

Voyage isn't really anywhere streaming other than Hulu and I think it's only the first two seasons. ME-TV runs it Saturday night. That's it for The States. DVDs are on Amazon for high and not so high prices, depending on what half-season you're looking for and a blu-ray release doesn't seem like it's in my lifetime. The Irwin Allen shows had a resurgence in popularity in the late 90's in to the early 2000's, but they're back into obscurity for the most part now. The generation who saw them first run is dying out, and my generation isn't enough to support it. It's also a product of its time. It's not "timeless" as much as some fans would like to believe. It's a cold war/spy/sci-fi/monster show with zero character development. It has good performances and mostly great model effects, but little else to get new audiences interested.

The first season of LIS and Voyage for me are more serious and the best. I have both on DVD. The first 2 B/W seasons of Superman with its elements of film noir are also excellent. Looking forward to this although I don’t remember much of the music.

This is from "Death from the Past" by Leith Stevens; it's not on this set but it would definitely be included if we were to do a second one. We did include a LOT of Leith Stevens music on this set though in a similar vein.

This is great news. I'll be interested in the Voyage set and will probably be buying it. I'm sure the Voyage music will be great, but the set I'm really hopeful of coming to fruition would be The Time Tunnel. I saw all the Irwin Allen tv shows of the 60's, but my favorite is The Time Tunnel. Really hope this can happen.

Okay, if there's more Leith Stevens to be had on a Volume 2, maybe you can count me in for that too, Jeff. wink

If IMDb is to be believed he wrote original music for more episodes of this show than almost anyone else (nine separate episode scores, I think?) so it's no surprise that not all of his music would fit on this four disc set I guess...with these being hourlong programs I'm guessing most of the discs can fit about three complete scores... which means Leith would have gotten 3/4 if all of his complete scores had been included; not exactly fair to other composers, eh?

If this set is even half full of Leith Stevens music I'll be SUPER happy!
