“It was originally called Concerto for Violin and Orchestra. It was only given a name when I counted the number of bars, for a lark. It was fortuitous and bizarre, because it has 1,111 bars and I have always had a fascination with the number 11.” Violin Concerto “Eleven Eleven” and Piano Quartet - Danny Elfman
"Today was - grr-eat! We did mean things, AND we did them in style." Dr. Seuss' The Grinch (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) - Various Artists
"Look at those greedy little gift monsters." Dr. Seuss' The Grinch (Original Motion Picture Score) - Danny Elfman
"It's impressive to see a man feeding off his emotions." Se7en (Complete Original Score) - Howard Shore
Watched Taras Bulba and listened to the rerecording by Tadlow for the first time. One word about the score: incredible. I absolutely loved it, from beginning to end. Very highly recommended. Quite possibly in my list of 20 greatest scores of all time. I do not have the original recording, but if anyone has hesitated in picking up the Tadlow release conducted by Nic Raine, I simply could not recommend it more.
