I am excited about this release because… duh.

And the Tarrytown event seems quite doable…

Hey Thor if the 4-second cue when Elizabeth calls Henry isn't tracked then it's not complete and I will not buy it! razz

Unless a miracle has occurred, the score will be incomplete, unfortunately. The existing acetate discs are missing, among other cues, Processional March, You Will Need a Coat, Crucifixion, Monster Breaks Loose, Fire in the Hut, and Graveyard. The main title that is heard in the film is not the main title Waxman composed for the film but was edited, lifting the misterioso section from "You Will Need a Coat. The editing replaced the agitato that was reprised in Fire in the Hut.
On the bright side, what does survive is wonderful.

Maybe they found additional elements to supplement the existing acetates, just a possibility. I just hope it includes the full end title, as it cuts off rather abruptly in the movie, or at least it does on the Blu-Ray restoration.

Great news, and a great week for Golden Age scores!

Amazing news indeed (somebody pinch me)! This will be a day 1 order.

This is one of my three remaining Holy Grail releases, along with The Haunting and Psycho.

I've always enjoyed the Silva rerecording. It wasn't long before it's release that I rang Silva up to congratulate them on the Hammer Dracula compilation and asked if there was ever any chance of Bride one day... like a request! So imagine my astonishment when they told it was on it was way soon. I couldn't believe it.

That and Jason and the Argonauts were once my two holy grails and of course many years later that Herrmann score was also rerecorded and released. I actually feel like my collection is complete with them.

So I'm not a million miles away from Thor's attitude here. I mean, I'm very interested, and if it's exceptionally good then I don't think I'll be able to resist it...

The existing acetates with about 30 minutes came from the Waxman collection which is housed at the Syracuse University. I don´t think that LLL will release only a 30 minutes album. As the executive from the Universal Pictures Film Music Heritage Collection is involved in this upcoming CD, it rather seems that the material now comes directly from Universal. Certainly someone will let us know more about this soon.

Wow!

I wasn’t expecting this.

There are still treasures to be found thanks to people digging for them.

And they will dig for them if enough of us who love golden age scores will buy them.

Nice to see an event happening on the East coast for a change, but it's over a 2-hour drive so I'll be missing it. Plus I hate shopping for wedding gifts. Wouldn't want the bride to have a hissy fit if I got the wrong thing.

This screening celebrates the world premiere release (in any format) of the original BRIDE score recording, which has been discovered and meticulously restored.

While the source might be acetates, being "discovered" implies it's not the known copies in the Waxman collection. No mention if it's complete.

Yeah, and if this sells great I think it certainly renews hope for Miklos Rozsa at Universal (and if THAT sells well who konws maybe even some Frank Skinner?)

MV/LLL must be reading this. I hope they will update us as to exactly the source of the "newly" discovered music, timing of the CD etc. No matter what this is exciting news.

Since the acetates you refer to are, presumable, old news, this points at something more newly discovered than them.

Cheers

So we don't know yet when the wide release date will be for the CD for those of us who can't attend the event? I assume sometime later in October?

That's the way I read it. Seems like a natural for Halloween to me; so probably in time for that. Dovetails nicely with the October 13 screening too.

I'm happy with the excellent Gerhardt suite.

You know, I was going to say the same thing, as long as it's not a discouraging word. I want this Waxman to be a smash, along with DIAL M FOR MURDER, and let the good times roll.

And I do feel the old film score lust for these titles, but we all have limited resources to spread around.

Surely now is not the time to shortchange the BRIDE of her trousseau.
