I can't wait until Tuesday when the usual bitching and moaning about not getting what you all have built up to expect happens.

James

Especially if one of the four CDs is just the Melanesian chants! big grin

I'm so excited for this, I'll be pre-ordering as soon as I can on Tuesday. I'm going to have to dig out my Criterion Blu-ray and watch the film again after I listen to the CDs.

"What world is this? What life? Maybe music's that one thing that draws us all together...Zimmer as one. Each man, each woman, each child hearing life...hearing Zimmer."

(long pause)

"Zimmer made this music. La-La Land gave me this gift. I listened. Maybe they made the music, and maybe it made me...and all of us were in it."

(exotic animal squawks, the sound of wind through tall grass can be heard)

When the movie was released in the theaters, I was not to fond of it. I guess I was expecting another Saving Private Ryan. The music, I will definitely have to give it another chance. Maybe I could place this in my category of “Great score, horrible movie.”

What? WHAT? One of the greatest films ever made and far more interesting than the competently-made but overly-manipulative SPR.

SPR is not fit to carry TRL's jungle mud-encrusted combat boots.

SPR is not my favorite WW2 movie, those would be Tora, Tora, Tora and Longest Day. These two told the stories from both angles and did not have to include CGI and Hollywood historical opinions. I only watched TRL once and maybe it needs a second viewing but I remember a lot of narration and landscapes. A little artsy yes, anything wrong with that no. Just not my taste at the time. Of course I was younger and never heard of Hans Zimmer before either so what did I know?
