I thought the remake of Murder... was decent but focussed too heavily on Poirot, who wasn't that interestingly played, unfortunately. I hope they give the supporting cast a chance to establish themselves this time.

Trailer’s up.

It was photographed in 65mm too.

The movie has been removed from the release calendar, no big surprise, it had been bumped to Christmas.

No new release date.

Based on the comments in the article here, pre-merger legacy Fox titles like these have contracts mandating theatrical releases, so they won't premiere on Disney+, and the cable/streaming deal is an existing one Fox signed with Warner, so it would end up on HBO Max anyway:

Doyle has written a ten minute concert suite for this.

Interesting, you mean a concert suite for the soundtrack album, in addition to the score cues?

He said he was able to write it because he was on the movie for so long, so I'm assuming it's for the album.

I just hope this is better than ORIENT EXPRESS, which really only had one stand-out track, while the rest was 'meh'. Hopefully, his long time on the project will result in a great score.

His long time on this project will make no big difference, I'm afraid. Now if you could put him in a time capsule and send him back 15 or 20 years - when he wrote scores like SECONDHAND LIONS, NOUVELLE FRANCE or KILLING ME SOFTLY (and I won't dare mention the '90s) - then yes, he would deliver a great score. Alas...

Well, sure, the consistency was stronger up untill the mid 2000s, but there are at least four scores since that I've really enjoyed: LA LIGNE DROITE, BRAVE (in part), CINDERELLA (in part), THE EMOJI MOVIE (in part) and just last year - ALL IS TRUE, which is about as strong as any of his earlier efforts. So he still has it in him.

This is a grown up murder mystery based on some ancient writings.
The first film was a hit because older people used to go the cinema then.
Now...they don't.
It's gonna Flop! HARD!! (no matter how good or bad it is).

I thoroughly enjoyed the first film, at the cinema.
A well cast and acted, handsome production with a very enjoyable Patrick Doyle score.
I will go see this follow-up based on the goodwill the previous one built up.

This has been my most anticipated score of 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 at one point....

Glad it's finally coming out, even if everything seems to be coming together for Doyle's first franchise to end on the second film.

Loved Branagh´s first adaptation of Christie. Definitely want to see this one.

But I agree - the target audience does not attend cinemas, especially now with Omicron wreaking havoc.

It would be prudent to offer a streaming or VOD alternative.

In any event, a new Doyle score for a Branagh film is something that is high on my interest list for 2022.

Blimey, it's finally getting a release. Not that I'll be going to see it, but I'll be buying the Blu-ray.

Mark Kermode will be playing some of the score later today on his film music radio show.

They played a cue called Bourgeois Nightmare, which sounded like source music. Very classical and very Doyle.

They also played a cue called 'The Cost of Love', which had a very dramatic, beautiful and dark love theme. Doyle melodrama at its best. You're all going to love this.
