So, one cue out of his body of work?

You checked out the episodes of "SeaQuest" he did?

Yeah, and it's okay. I'm not knocking anybody's love for it. It's all very polished, but I've never found any personality in Debney's music. It feels like something I should like, but I just don't respond to it. I don't know what Debney's voice is – it feels like imitation. A skilled imitation, yes.

I kinda like "Elf," too.

If you love Debney, enjoy! These days, I'm looking more for something that stands out and takes a few more chances. Will that be Göransson in this case? Who knows?

(And yes, I'm enjoying the umlaut.)

Ironically, CutThroat Island (which is in my opinion his greatest work by some margin) is dedicated to those Golden Age composers which he said influenced him, yet to me the overall style is more contemporary and no specific sections remind me of Waxman/Korngold/Newman, really. And I know a lot of people say it sounds like David Arnold, but Arnold's work for me is much more busy and over-orchestrated. I don't like any of his scores as much as I love CutThroat Island.

But yeah in general Debney doesn't have a particularly strong voice, agreed. A solid orchestral composer nevertheless.

I didn't think you were. Unlike a certain user here, I can get over somebody not liking music from a composer.

As I did earlier in this thread, I maintain that the show's creators have a plan for the music – and that given how much the musical approach is key to the Star Wars universe, their plan is likely not a haphazard one.

But if Göransson for some reason does not work out, they still have plenty, plenty of time to change their minds. The series has only just begun shooting, really.

If you have hesitation, listen to the montage music he wrote for Creed

YES!

Both CREED scores are fantastic and definitely reason to believe that Goransson will deliver a great score for this show.

Both Creed and Black Panther are easily in my berst scores of the decade. Especially Black Panther: rich score with a couple of standout and innovative moments.

And now Göransson wil score a spaghetti western set in the Star Wars universe. Bring it on.

Göransson is probably the most versatile film composer working today. I look forward to hearing what he brings to Star Wars.

I am looking forward to a Göransson Star Wars score. His music for the Creed pictures are great sports scores, energetic and rousing. I for one really enjoyed Black Panther.

Göransson‘s an outstanding choice. One thing I suspect impressed the producers was the thoughtful way he handled Bill Conti’s music in Creed. The contours of the Star Wars musical universe have been clearly defined by John Williams and so following him means finding creative ways to respect those contours while preserving your own voice. He’s easily up to the job.

A few minutes of footage of an episode and some other stuff:

If that's the final score for the series, I am already disappointed.

Given Goransson's background, the subject matter and the tone of the clips we've seen so far, it's not surprising this is the way he's scoring the show. Disappointing yes, but not surprising. Hopefully he's able to get bolder and brassier during the action sequences.

Thanks for the link! Ive been meaning to check this out. I'm actually intrigued by this. Love the feel of it all. I like a lot the directors work so have confidence in him. Great to see model work in film again. Sure most of it will probably be CGI. Yeah, there are lots of call backs nod nod, wink wink to the original trilogy but they don't seem out of place like they are in the sequels. (Maybe because its not far after Jedi) The title character has the weapon Boba Fett had in the Star Wars special. While admittedly cool, I'm a little uncomfortable with every Star Wars droid being weaponized for battle. The music yeah, predictable middle-eastern influence. Not Star Wars music at all. Got a few nit-pics but generally looks good.

The footage actually looked interesting. Up till now I had zero interest in this (as i'll not be getting the channel it's on, so unable to see it and i'm not a Star Wars fan). I really like Werner Herzog as an actor/director. I just love his line delivery. He makes a good baddie. The music felt suitable in the clip. I'm sure it'll be decent overall. Goransson seems a versatile and capable chap.

I didn't really get anything from the trailer. And it seems trailers are in a contest for who can have the worst music these days, even including BRAAAMMMMMs.

This is probably the only thing Star Wars that still gets me interested.
And to the contrary of most Williams fans. I'm welcoming the new score that hopefully will bring something fresh to this worn out franchise.
Plus Ludwig Göransson did more than a decent job on Black Panther.
This trailer is the closest to what I always hoped Star Wars universe would evolve to be: A gritty, nervous and fun adventure that doesn't sugar coat everything.
There's also too little of a score in here to start making any kind of judgment.

That looks pretty badass. Glad to see IG88 doing stuff finally. Hopefully they didn’t give him a silly voice.
I’ll check this out for sure.

This looks like a really good show! How the hell did Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni get it past Kathleen Kennedy?

"Mandalorian" sounds like a kind of orange...r.

I thought that's something from THE PHANTOM MENACE.
