It'll pick up more nicks than a manhole cover with that sleeve, but dang there it is. A release from LLL would have no doubt presented alternates, a considerable booklet, etc. Oh well. Good to see it! Does anybody know if it comes in just a sleeve or a jewel case with a booklet?

Hi Ryan, Thanks for reaching out! This item is a pre-order that is not yet in house so I am unaware of these details. I assume this will be in a jewel case like the majority of compact discs. Apologies I do not have more information yet! Best, Megan A reply like that, to me, is utterly baffling. How could you not know? Aside that you have to pay for what you are getting, the art work has to be designed for one or the other. Tray art with spins and a booklet aren't going to work for a digipack. Somebody in the company knows. All she had to do was ask. They aren't all sitting there waiting to find out what they got when it arrives.

I wrote them and they responded. The CD will NOT have the liner notes that came with the LP but will be packaged in a gatefold Digipack. NOT a standard jewel case.

At least that should mean no sleeve. Thanks Supes.

Personal preference obviously. Digipaks aren't great but if producers aren't going to include a booklet anyway I'm okay with them as a second choice. The disc is the most important thing and they use hubs. Sleeves are never okay though. That's an immediate no-sale from me. At the same time this is a glimpse into a world without LLL, Intrada et al. In addition to no jewel case CD buyers are also not getting previously, and very recently, written and published liner notes (which is why the digipak works here). Vinyl is clearly more important and the CD edition is an afterthought with obviously lesser value. And that's icky gross.

I'm sure it is. I'm seeing it as an anomaly as Turtles have been pretty darn big for a while now, and vinyl is uber hip. But it's still an uncomfortable glimpse. I'm sure the Waxworks guys are nice and all, but I don't like to see the proven good guys lose and we know a better package would have come from LLL. Oh well.

Well, CD is the new old format whereas vinyl is the old new format. And Turtles are big, active and owned by Nickelodeon. And unlike Batman, for example, the different incarnations of the Turtles tend to get lumped together in marketing and merchandising. It sort of makes sense in a weird, corporate conglomerate kind of way. The two sequel scores may be in an unfortunate place now though. Do they have enough support to warrant the same treatment from WW? Or proper releases from LLL without the first one to anchor a complete collection?
