SORRY for not responding earlier. I've been away in Berlin for a few days. Thanks so much for the list. I'll give this a try ASAP!

No apology necessary my friend! I know sometimes threads can sink very fast and escape our detection under the weight of the other updated/new threads.

Take your time, but please do let me know your thoughts whenever you get around to it!

Anyone else listen to these Anthologies and feel they have some serious bass overkill? For realz. Not a big fan of heavy bass, my car stereo is set to like -5 on the bass adjust, and these CDs nearly vibrate my entire automobile while most of my other CDs (scores and non-scores) don't produce that effect in the slightest.

Also, it's weird but space was clearly at a premium on these Anthologies with nary a second to waste -- and for some reason Clouser elected to include both "Partners" from Saw IV and "Pigs Revealed" from Saw V. With the exception of their intros, they're nearly identical cues, and not terribly short (relatively speaking) either. Surely he recognized that? Maybe he just really likes 'em...? Admittedly they are fantastic cues, but...

I've now heard your playlist, Deputy.

It's pretty good stuff -- love the modulated beats, and the experimental stuff never gets in the way of listenability. Not sure how representative the playlist is of the scores as a whole, but it certainly works for my use.

I'm thrilled that you listened and that you enjoyed it. As someone who feels like a lone Sawfan in a barren land much of the time, I'm extremely pleased to put together a playlist that appealed to you. As far as being representative, it is admittedly and majorly light on the more hardcore/intense side of the music (basically, "trap music") and somewhat lacking in atmospheric/textural sound design with bare-bones direction and dynamic. Instead, the playlist focused on the traits you were seeking, but these traits are important and integral to the Saw score universe, to somewhat act as middle ground between the very darkest and heaviest of material and the more meandering atmospherics.

Let me know if you would like any further suggestions from Clouser's world of Saw! Thanks for the update!

smile

The only bad thing I can say of these releases is that it is too bad that it does not show from which film in the series each track is from. Other than that I really enjoy these two soundtracks.

This isn't that much of a complaint, but it is a real shame tracks like this weren't included on the Anthologies. It would've been perfect for your playlist too, Thor.

Knowing that these two Anthology releases were released not too long ago (2018), I’m guessing more complete score releases (perhaps in a number of volumes and packaged in jewel cases instead of these dreadful digipacks) will not happen anytime soon. frown

My single favorite cue/track from any of the Saw movies is from Saw 2: The Needle Pit. Love that music.

Great track! My favorite cue is "X Marks The Spot":

I love how the main theme is toned down here, yet very distinct. Must say that I was rather disappointed that it wasn't on the Anthology releases.
