That's what I want to hear! Btw what were the " weakness" of . the original? Not much to be honest. One of my favorite all time scores. When I say weakness, I mainly meant weakness compared the new score. Composition wise, I don't think the old score has any major flows. But I think the new score, due to the use of the orchestra, choir, vocals, etc., gives the score a more organic feel. Better performance imo as well. But to focus on bringing out bigger and bolder pieces for the orchestra, Zimmer sacrificed the nuances of the original. And personally, I prefer the original for this reason. There are some exceptions like "Stampede," where I felt like the new version is actually better written, with less one noted intensity and more ebb and flow, but you lose the continuous intensity of the original. But like I said, they both compliment each other quite well.

I have to admit I find the very idea of a "live action" (yeah, I know it's animated, but still... ) LION KING remake pretty odd. There seems to be an audience for these remakes, and by all means, Disney is in the business of making money. So I can see why they do it. But still. I can see live action adaptations of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST etc, ok, why not, but the LION KING? The story is Hamlet told with animals, and in its classically animated form, I think it has a charm. But with lions and other animals that look that realistic, it makes not much sense to me, as it is a human story, not a wildlife story. The animals in the original cartoon are just "humans in disguise", but realistic lions and apes and whatever acting not the least bit like any of these animals would ever do in real life is just not something I am all that interested in. While I am in no way principally against remakes, I don't much get the point of this one. I mean, as much as I love Wilie E. Coyote and the Road Runner (and I really love them), I would find a realistically animated "live action" remake of these old cartoons questionable as well, to say the least.

Listening to this on Spotify now though not far in. I find the songs rather weak. They don't have the power and energy of the originals. Still need to hear more of Zimmers score though... Circle Of Life uses what sounds like the same exact backing track with the Speed percussion and Lebo M vocal, just has a new lead vocalist. Right?

I don't know man, if Warner Brothers decides to do photo-realistic remake of the Road Runner cartoons, I'm 100% there for it. I'd also support a photo-realistic remake of Tazmania with a realistic Tazmanian Devil that still somehow spins in rapid tornados.

I've noticed a pattern with Sol. He hates everything. But, on the rare occasions he loves something . invariably it's animated. INSIDE OUT, PRINCE OF EGYPT, LION KING. Let the psychoanalysis begin!

Do I have to wait for a Legacy Collection version to get an expanded score? I've noticed a pattern with Sol. He hates everything. But, on the rare occasions he loves something . invariably it's animated. Oh great. He's me.
