I'd love Last Action Hero and a super duper Highlander release with The Queen Songs. I haven't seen Robin Hood in a v long time, but enjoy the CD still as it is. (Even the songs)

I'm actually a little Kamen'ed out after the Die Hard & Lethal Weapon releases.

To MutualRevolver:

You listed "Nothing But Trouble" as unreleased. Back in 1991, Warner Bros. Records released the soundtrack CD where 4 minutes of Kamen's music appeared in a track named Valkenvania Suite

You're absolutely right.
And Valkenvania was the original movie title.

the CD that did come out is something like 25 minutes and goes for a couple grand last I checked.

Interesting; is the CD in stereo?

Pretty sure it is. I bought it when it came out but haven't played it in years. Its more of an expanded CD single.

Gah! That's what I get for using Wikipedia as a reference; on Kamen's page, they did not list an official soundtrack for that film. Interesting that it had a different title originally

Is there any music missing from his score for The Iron Giant. I see Varese previously did a release of that score, though I don't know if it left out any music.

If they did, its gotta be marginal. That Varese disc was stuffed with music like few other albums. It even had a secret song at the very end!

Thanks for the information.

On a somewhat related note, the film itself is getting a two-day reissue starting next week, apparently with 2 extra scenes. However, unless Kamen wrote music for scenes like these during production, it's more than likely that these new scenes will either have no music or have music tracked from elsewhere in the film considering Kamen can't write any new music.

Love to hear complete releases of DEAD BANG, SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME and SHANGHAI SURPRISE.

And complete reissues of HUDSON HAWK, ACTION JACKSON, LAST ACTION HERO, LET HIM HAVE IT, THE KRAYS and LICENCE TO KILL.

I listened to some samples online, and while the last track is definitely in stereo, it's difficult to discern whether the rest of the tracks were mixed in genuine stereo. They often have that "artificial stereo" effect similar to Family Plot

The official Michael Kamen twitter account has been tweeting recently asking fans what scores they would like to see released and has hinted that a forthcoming release will be one of his ballet scores from the '70s. I encourage any Kamen fans to follow them and to tweet them what you are interested in!

Awesome, thanks for sharing that info!
It kills me when liner notes off handedly mention concert works film composers have written that we most likely will never hear.

We've come a LONG way with Kamen in this era of expansions & first issues.
I hope some one deluxes-up BRAZIL before I croak - the Milan cd is excellent, but I need to hear it complete and not as a concept album.

A comprehensive release of BRAZIL has been my #1 desired score since I was a teenager.

Same here - it's funny, the 7 years between seeing the film & getting the Milan cd felt like eternity. Despite how bizarre the album is, I'm still grateful it even exists.
Kamen always seemed either to have no time, prep, insight or just shafted when it came to score albums. I read some interview where he stated that more often than not he'd wrap the score and have to deliver an album immediately. It didn't help scoring all those action films, fighting songs and sound efx! I'm glad the labels have given him his due, especially the Joel Silver era. And Lethal Weapon. I've played every minute of that box set more than I will admit....

Bumping for those who missed it. Kamen fans should tweet and follow the official Michael Kamen/estate twitter account with your requests for releases.

https://twitter.com/MichaelKamenMus

I should add that I will buy any Kamen release, but certainly Highlander, Robin Hood, Brazil, From the Earth to the Moon would be some of my favourites. Hopefully the LLL X-Men release will also be soon, but who knows.

But I did my part, and put in a request for a complete Brazil on their Twitter profile smile
