I just bought it. Long time in coming. Now if only I can get my last two wishes for 1950's Sci-Fi OTS
-INVADERS FROM MARS by Mort Glickman (Raoul Kraushaar-sort of), 1953
-BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS by David Buttolph, 1953

I guess one can only about those two.

Ed G.

Well for BEAST we at least have the excellent suite recorded by Monstrous Movie Music. Has there been any legit release of anything from the '53 INVADERS FROM MARS?

The one thing I miss in the MMM recording is the FULL version of the Beast's New York attack.....David has mentioned it was same cues looped together but still would be nice to hear. Also the trailer music seems unique.

...his son Daryl was the "Captain" in the pop band "Captain and Tennille".......

Not to mention the Beach Boys.

By the way, there are M&E tracks floating around for the '53 INVADERS FROM MARS. All of varying quality; some atrocious. And as you would expect, all riddled with sound effects. My sense is that the original session recordings are either long since gone or sitting in someone’s storage locker completely forgotten. It's a pity. I can only imagine how wonderful that score would sound in high fidelity (even stereo!).

I can't believe how great the clips sound. I'm really looking forward to this!

Now if tapes of Antheil's DAUGHTER OF HORROR (aka DEMENTIA) ever surface, I will be in a perpetual state of stunned.

No word of a lie, I was just thinking about 2 weeks ago how much I wished this score would see the light of day. Now obviously LLL was working on this long before my wish, but it's not the first time I wished it. Just sayin'.

I am so excited about this one, for sure! (And thanks, Leo. I had no idea Daryl was Carmen's son. Nifty.)

He had another son Dennis, who was also a musician.

My order just came in the mail & playing as I type. This is a monumental and stunning release....another home run for LLL. Great liner notes from Jeff Bond...dynamic remastering of the audio...clean and powerful. Thanks to MV and everyone involved...another dream fulfilled.

If it passes the Charles Thaxton smell test, I know it'll be great!

And now, if we could only talk somebody who truly loves and understands sci fi music (MMM?) into doing a re-record of the INVADERS FROM MARS score, with weird choir effects and all...

This is one of the most satisfying soundtrack releases I've ever experienced. I've watched the movie many times, and Carmen Dragon's music is ingrained in my mind. Now, listening to the score apart from the movie...this really is a dream that has come true. LLL has had a great year, with A.I. and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE (TV) among many more. It's simply been a terrific year for soundtracks, pick any era, with all the labels continuing to produce marvelous releases. But INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS is easily the standout for me. It has historical resonance as a score I think many believed would never see a release, so that makes it even more special. The music, as a piece, is brilliant. Terrifying and suspenseful, with a moving touch of romantic warmth, a real sense of genuine emotion. Creepy and subtly atmospheric passages, and those dissonant, blasting chords! Just wow! This is music with a designed purpose in the film, and a musical design that is endlessly fascinating to listen to. Thanks to LLL and all involved for this fantastic release.

P.S. I'd also like to mention Dan Goldwasser's outstanding design and Jeff Bond's excellent notes. And it sounds great, too!

Received mine. I echo what fortyone says, above. An outstanding release in every way.

One observation: The notes mention there was a wordless song theme (sung by the composer's wife) that preceded the last track in the actual film. That would have been good to have because it would have given some prior context to the partial variations on the theme that suddenly appear "out of nowhere" in the last track. Was this piece lost?
We do have a bonus track of the song with lyrics (unused), but it's so stylistically different, it doesn't lend itself to being programmed within the score part of the CD.

Really digging the romantic theme for "Becky & Miles" which pops up a few times. The greenhouse pod themes are right in line with the best Godzilla/monster cues.

The theme mentioned is the soft ballad playing on the truck radio when Miles is watching them load trucks at their "farm" near the end.

in the film, there's the song which lures Miles and Becky out of the tunnel.
Then a foreboding cue as Miles hurrys back to Becky.
Then the revelation/tragedy cue - I assume "No! Never!"

Does the foreboding cue start in "No! Never!" or was it used earlier in the CD and omitted to avoid repetition?

I too have been enjoying this CD very much. Excellent sound quality. And there's lots to read in the big 24 page booklet. LLL always has outstanding and large booklets.
It's amazing to have this score after nearly 60 years!
Wonderful production all around. Thanks MV & LLL! smile
