You can't double post! It's like putting your whole mouth in the thread!

Next time, just make one post and end it!

All this naughty sex talk, sheesh, we lost sight of what this is all about, yes? wink

Very excited to hear these two, Patriot Games (took advantage
of the deal) and A Certain Smile, which I promised I'd try after all
the threads & chat about what an overlooked gem it is.

Good show boys, thank you smile

My Sum of All Fears showed up yesterday. Getting ready to give it a listen now. Normally I don' t have a problem but this time mine arrived like it had gone through a war zone. The jewel case is cracked in 5 places on the front and 4 places back. frown Oh well. It's the music that matters.

La-la Land really needs to start shipping their CDs in small boxes with bubble wrap inside. Almost every time I receive a shipment from them, one or more of the jewel cases are cracked. I understand that it isn't technically their fault, but a box sure would help. Varese uses boxes - never had a cracked case from them.

The trick is to order 4 or more at a time. That way there's more of a chance they'll come in a box.

Loving Fears. The extra music really makes for a better listening experience. Reminds me a lot of my fav 90s score of his, US Marshalls. Liner notes are excellent and share a lot of insight into Goldsmiths last couple years. Though I never met him sure miss him.

before ordering, there is a comment box before finalizing the order you could request extra shipping packaging I always ask and they do!

The song that Trevor Horn produced from Sum Of All Fears (written by Goldsmith) is interesting. What does the liner notes say about this collaboration?

My order went from CA to NY :-( WTF???
Hafta wait & pray its not a mass of ruptured plastic
by the time these wind back to CA again.

To keep this a little useful, Wavelengths score
appropriates music from TDs Pergamon & Exit
albums. More new than reused music percentage wise & I never minded - they did this often on their scores.

I never gave Sum of All Fears more than a passing glance because of the short run-time and significant missing music, so having this complete edition is like hearing a new Goldsmith score!

This is essentially the best score of the year. By far.

big grin

I sort of passed by the original release as well when it came out. This new set definitely does the score justice. Some nice standout moments.

I now listen to "14 Months" when I leave the house each morning.
Puts me in a good mood.

Well, I rented the movie to see the score in context as I was contemplating getting this one. It's a perfectly adequate late 90 / early 2000s Goldsmith score which serves its film just fine, but I really don't see too much to write home about outside of that gorgeous, phenomenal opening cue. The rest of it just reminds me of Star Trek Nemesis which has also undergone something of a surprising (baffling, to me) reappraisal since its expanded release came out. I don't know if it's because a lot of modern film music sounds like the Captain America sequel and that makes this work sound good by comparison, but my opinion of Sum of All Fears hasn't changed at all.

Still, glad you guys are enjoying it.

Chris.

Purchasing any good Goldsmith, I copied The sum of all fears, but not convined by the whole first CD. I remember only the suberb 6 minutes long track with solo voice.

after reading all these comments, I will oreder this expanded edition, for sure.

The late, but always excellent Goldsmith we miss a lot...

Patrick

listened yersterday... a couple of nice new cues... but overall too much action-suspense music for my taste.

I concur with the overpraising.
