Listen Scatman, me and Paul were riffing on this in the 80s and 90s, drunk in the streets (well, Paul wasn't drunk, cos he didn't drink, but the Scousers were). I'll never forget that night. It was such a relief to get away from the horrible "study abroad" scam in London where I'd found myself, and have a great weekend in Liverpool. You guys have no idea what that did for my spirits (even though I wasn't imbibing spirits -- but I was wired from all the Coca-Cola!).

THE CORE (Christopher Young) Intrada 2CD Edition Okay, it's great, BUT, 100 minutes of full-on, forward momentum LARGE SCALE Disaster Action music can wear one down in a whole session. I find Disc 1 to be the strongest, with the main highlights therein. Disc 2 still has some great stuff, but repeats material from D1, which lessens it somewhat. I only shaved about 8 minutes from the D1 run time of 51 mins, but kept about 18 mins from D2, for a whittle edition score total time of around 60 mins. Here it is Disc 1, tracks 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9,10 Disc 2, tracks 1, 8, 9, 10. (track 11 of D1, Cor Cordium, may be added back into the programme...just played it again and liked it some more).

So, prompted by the Varese expanded release of Elmer Bernstein's WILD WILD WEST score and knowing that I would inevitably whittle it down to a custom album for myself, I am looking again at expanded or complete Bernstein releases and tackling them as well. This includes GANGS OF NEW YORK, SCARLET LETTER, RAMPAGE and more. As usual, I will use Garage Band to edit shorter cues into longer suites, rearrange out of film order or edit longer cues down. Below is my custom album edit of WILD WILD WEST, for starters: WILD WILD WEST - Custom Album Edit Total time - 51:44 1.Blade/Main Title 2.West Fights 3.Whirly Girly 4.Punch Up & Washington (this track opens with "Punch", then "Punch Up" and "Washington" cues) 5.Dismissed 6.Waltz First Mansion & Polka (I wanted these two dance cues as one track) 7.East Meets West 8.Rescue 9.Tank To Catch (this track opens with "Tank" cross faded into "Tank To Catch") 10.Reeling (yes, out of film order, but I wanted this bright, energetic as a break) 11.Exit McGrath & Ritaless 12.Missing Something 13.Train Attack 14.The Cornfield 15.Big Ride (Original Wild Wild West Television Theme) 16.Spider Canyon & Captured 17.The Plan/America & Avante/Air Gordon (again, not film order but these work well together musically) 18.Eight Ball & Flying Attack (work well together, the ostinato in 8 Ball is revisited in Flying Attack) 19.Tin Man/Four of a Kind 20.Last Fight 21.Bye Loveless / Whoopin' 22.The End (Ride the Spider)

Did anyone do some whittles for the three Hobbit scores taking them down to a similar length to the original LOTR albums? Those scores are great but a lot in one sitting!

Did anyone do some whittles for the three Hobbit scores taking them down to a similar length to the original LOTR albums? Those scores are great but a lot in one sitting! I seem to recall that I assembled a 75 minute "highlights album" from those three Hobbit scores, but I didn't do reduced album versions of the each of the individual scores... I do remember seeing this now you mention it. Guess I wasn’t looking to whittle them quite that much! Maybe I’ll just have to try and whittle each one myself. It feels like such a daunting job!

I'm the same. The 3 scores (6 DISCS!!) are waiting for me to give them a proper 'sit-down/play/select my fave tracks' listen, but I haven't got around to it yet. The 'boredom memories' of the films hasn't helped.
