OK, try not to laugh but I haven't had the chance to even open the the previous 2CD set. It's lying in my stack of un opened sets. Being a completist I will have to order the new 4CD set.
Everyone can probably thank me for this new 4-disc set. I waited too long to order the old 2-disc set, and it sold out on Intrada's site, so I raced to Amazon and ordered the last set they had there. I got it a while back, but I finally listened to it the night before they announced the new one. Coincidence? I think not.

Same. I ordered it a couple of months ago, after a low stock warning. I haven’t gotten around to it, in these crazy times.
Very frustrating news. Previous release is just barely 2 years old. I think there should be some kind of upgrade program for these kind of releases for people who has the previous (few years old) release. I feel so stupid to buy these things many times.

Intrada didn't go into their 2018 release intending to make an inferior product. They didn't go into this one intending to screw their customers. Both times they wanted to bring the best possible version of an iconic score to the market. Somehow they were able to access sources they couldn't two years ago. Should they not have released this new set? Or held it off until the old one had been OOP longer? I'm not in favor of either of those.
These labels don't make mega bucks off their releases, we're lucky they're still doing CDs, and I'm thrilled they decided to revisit this one when better materials became available.
I feel grateful to be able to buy these scores many times in radically improved forms, in these final few years of physical media.

Riddick, I agree with the frustration. When we buy these scores, they are not cheap. With tax and shipping, a regular release can go all the way up to $25 plus. This is one of the reasons I stopped buying so many. Now maybe less than 3 releases in a year. And then good luck trying to get rid of the first release that no one wants. (You don't want to know the little money that someone gave me for the two disc set, its maddening) But, I don't fault Intrada or anyone who does this kind of thing. They get excited like we do when they find more music, or have a better overall sound and want to share it. This release happened to be one of my favorites, so I will upgrade and be happy to pay for it. Two discs going to four is a lot of upgrade. But this will be my last version for Prince of Thieves.
