In Goldfinger, the Bond and Jill cue is Barry's first Bond "seductive late-night jazzy" cue, a style first heard on record with "Cafe Martinique" on Thunderball--and in OHMSS and Diamonds Are Forever.

In Goldfinger, the Bond and Jill cue is Barry's first Bond "seductive late-night jazzy" cue, a style first heard on record with "Cafe Martinique" on Thunderball--and in OHMSS and Diamonds Are Forever. Yes, one of the best cues ever. I'm just afraid there isn't more than what can be heard in the movie or on the music and effects track. The version on the master tapes would be stereo, though. Other brief, but memorable cues that come to mind are "Into Miami Pt. 2" and the Kentucky cue. There's also some unreleased music during the scene where Pussy and Bond walk around the farm.

For Thunderball, according to Mr. Kendall, Barry recorded instrumental "twang" versions of Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and the title tune. Would love to hear these!

The THUNDERBALL music missing from the 2003 expanded CD as far as I know: 1. Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (Dionne Warwick) (On the 30th anniversary 2CD) 2. Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (Shirley Bassey) (On the 30th anniversary 2CD) 3. Repetitious underwater swimming 'mood' cues Exists, but unusable on the sources available due to sound problems 4. 7M4: Fiona drives Bond to hotel Absent from the sources Team Lukas had to work with 5. 9M1: Bond fights the thug in the shark tank Absent from the sources Team Lukas had to work with 6. 10M1 (original): The Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang version of the Street Chase A finished version of this was not taken, only takes that weren't quite right 7. Twangy guitar version of Thunderball 8. Twangy guitar version of Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Plus of the music that was released, there were some snips to reduce the length and get it on one CD. Source of info: Film Score Monthly volume 8 number 4. Cheers

However, who cares, here's a short version of it. I did an inventory of all the music heard in the movie cross referenced with the slate numbers listed in FSM magazine volume 8 number 4. It's not easy because of all the hacking and tracking. What was released on the 2003 CD: 1M1 Gunbarrel 1M2 Chateau Fight 1M3 Thunderball (song) 2M1 The Spa (1) (starts with electrocution of SPECTRE agent) 2M2 The Spa (2) 2M3 Traction Table (1) 2M4 Traction Table (2) (Bond gets back at Count Lippe) Note: 2M3 was cropped for the CD. In the film this cue goes on to cover Bond romancing Pat Fears in the steam room. So there is some missing music here. 3M2 Switching the Body 3M3 Gassing the Plan 4M1 The Bomb 4M2 The Bomb 4M3 The Bomb 4M4 Car Chase Note: there may be some edits on CD for 4M1-4M3, I haven't checked in detail. 5M2 Bond Meets Domino Note: The underwater and lounge music sound like two distinct tracks to me, but based on the titles and slate numbers listed in FSM volume 8 number 4, both must be 5M2. 6M1 Cafe Martinique 6M2 Shark Tank 7M2 Bond Beneath the Disco Volante 8M1 Search for Vulcan 8M3 Lights Out for Paula 9M4 For King and Country 10M1 Street Chase (1) (Revised) 10M2 Street Chase (2) (The Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Club) 10M3 Death of Fiona 10M4 Finding the Plane 11M1 Underwater Ballet 11M3 Bond with SPECTRE Frogmen 12M3 Leiter to the Rescue 13M1 Bond Joins The Underwater Battle 13M3 Underwater Mayhem 13M4 Underwater Mayhem 14M1 Death of Largo 14M2 End Title Note: 14M2 is replaced with the James Bond theme in some versions. The missing slate numbers: 3M1 5M1 7M1 7M3 7M4 8M2 9M1 9M2 9M3 11M2 12M2 13M2 Plus, there may be some missing slates at the end of a reel, for instance I think there's a 10M5 and one piece of unreleased music in the film might be at the end of reel 11 or start of reel 12 as I'm not sure where the changeover is. So let's look at what at what we can hear in the film that's not released: The music where Derval is killed, between 2M4 and 3M2. I'd guess that's what 3M1 is. The music where Bond recognises Derval's face in the briefing. As this is the only music I can hear between 4M4 and 5M2, I'd guess that's what 5M1 is. However, other people tell me this music is tracked in. In which case, I have no idea what 5M1 was. Perhaps an unused cue. Some music is tracked in between 6M1 and 6M2 where as Bond arrives at his suite. Presumably Barry didn't score this and the music was tracked in by Peter Hunt. I can hear no music in the film between 6M2 and 7M2 so I have no idea what 7M1 is. The music where Fiona Volpe picks up Bond in her car and speeds to the hotel, between 7M2 and 8M1. It's not clear if this is just one piece of music hacked by an edit, or two separate cues. We know that 7M4 is Fiona speeding to the hotel. 7M3 could be the first part of this music. If it isn't, I have no idea what 7M3 could be. The music where Fiona's men capture Paula, between 8M1 and 8M3. I'd guess that's what 8M2 is. The music where Bond fights the thug in the pool, between 8M3 and 9M4. I'd guess this is what 9M1 is. The music where Bond enters room 304, with Fiona in the bath, also between 8M3 and 9M4. I'd guess this is what 9M2 is. The music where Bond and Fiona start to get it on, also between 8M3 and 9M4. I'd guess this is what 9M3 is. The music where Bond find's Derval's body underwater, between 10M4 and 11M1. I'd guess that's 10M5. The music where Bond tells Domino all on the beach, between 11M1 and 11M3. I'd guess this is what 11M2 is. The music where the Disco Volante sets off to recover the bombs, between 11M3 and 12M3. I'm not sure if this is still in reel 11 or into reel 12, so I'm not going to guess a slate number. The music where the frogmen get to the bombs, also between 11M2 and 12M3. Because I'm not sure where the reel 11/12 changeover is, I won't guess the slate. For the fight between Bond and the frogmen that follows, Chateau Fight is tracked in some versions, the James Bond theme on some other versions, and it's left silent in other versions. There's an additional short piece of music after the fight, between 11M2 and 12M3, which sounded like it was tracked in music from Bond Under The Disco Volante at first, but then goes into a unique ending, which suggests it's not the same recording. The music when Bond drops the grenade into the underwater wreck, between 13M1 and 13M3. I'd guess this is what 13M2 is, but the music in this reel is really hacked up. What else is there? We know an unreleased alternate of 10M1 exists based on the Mister Kiss Kiss Bang Bang theme, although a satisfactory performance was reportedly not achieved before it was decided to re-score with the 007 theme. There's the unreleased twangy guitar instrumental of Thunderball. There's the unreleased twangy guitar instrumental of Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. And, there's the Bassey and Warwick vocals of Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang that were on the 30th anniversary double CD. Now, I'm sorry that I'm not an insider with access to actual cue sheets, so I could be wrong about my guesses about what the missing slate numbers are, but given the resources I have this is the best analysis I can do. Cheers

Of course, he likely got paid, although probably not that much. From what I understand, it was a pretty thankless job, and it was done with a very limited budget within a tight timeline. The CDs were released with minimal fanfare as part of EMI's budget line. By any metric, LK went above and beyond what was required. Most importantly, it allowed many of the master tapes to be searched through, inventoried and (I believe) preserved. This could allow for future released like TMWTGG, as the tapes were literally "on hand" but they decided to LALD instead (they couldn't do both because of budget limitations). We have discussed on this thread, below is the current YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE expanded film score that was very kindly done by Lukas Kendall 2003... "Very kindly done?" I'm pretty sure he got paid.
