It is not splitting if one wants to stop the constant negativity and cussing („waste of sperm“).

But why is it considered better (and funnier) to constantly enter a thread to pour hate onto something? If some here love this score, why is that toxic?

Hate is toxic. And those who normalize it with a kind of schoolyard bullyism might think they are the victim here when being called out for their behaviour.

They actually are the perpetrator.

You still are unable to explain, why it is OK to say something positive about a film or score, and why it is not OK to say that one does not like a film or score.

It is not hate to say that one does not like NTTD.

I never said that it is BETTER to write a negative comment, but it is also not WORSE to express your opinion when it does not praise something. That´s called discussion! Where is discussion when everybody agrees?

Good for you for speaking up, John.

Here’s an interesting fact. TheAvenger hasn’t quite been on FSM for two years and in that time has made 232 posts as I write this. Exactly 100 of them have been on the Dune and NTTD threads. Ergo 43% of his posts are him being negative about Hans Zimmer and/or fellow FSM members, across two threads.

I haven’t bothered to check out any other contributions he’s made, but I doubt they’ve been overwhelmingly positive.

I have said that discussion is welcome.

But then the same guys keep on pouring hate, i.e. giving no arguments why they dislike it, just stating the same snarky ridicule of a score, a movie or the people who do enjoy both.

Many of those hate Zimmer and feel the need to tear down everything he does and everybody who likes his work. That need is destroying any discussion. It only turns to namecalling.

Apparently, the mods are okay with TheAvenger accusing me of child molestation and calling me a waste of ejaculate. But are you okay with him using those terms when he at the same time positions himself as a reasonable part of any discussion?

Perhaps that has something to do with the fact that I have perfectly reasonable discussions with 99% of the people who interact with me. In fact, bar you and one other, I can’t recall deliberately being offensive to anyone, or anyone to me either. Respect gets respect. It’s really not that hard to understand. Instead of being perpetually offended and sanctimonious, why don’t you think and work out precisely why I have reacted to you the way I have.

But in the interests of accuracy, kindly note that my reference to wasted ejaculate, which you are now so fond of citing, wasn’t even aimed at you but someone else who called me a liar in this thread. I specifically named no-one but said that “…..one particular waste-of-ejaculate” had made things personal* Odd though that you should just assume it was you I was talking about particularly given the context in which I used that insult. Was that just paranoia or a tacit acceptance on your part that you recognised you met the criteria?

But you know what, the other comment that was specifically aimed at you was a too much and for that I apologise.

This dialogue with you is very boring, and must certainly be for everyone else here, so I’m not going to engage with you any further. Hopefully you will do likewise. Don’t agree with my opinions, then just scroll on by. Or just block me so you don’t have to. But please don’t waste your time cluttering this thread up with a response that won’t be read.

* What with insults about people being liars and a waste of ejaculate, I could make a joke about this whole situation being caused by a tissue of lies. But somehow I doubt you would appreciate it.

So, your offensive remarks are only directed at me — but „waste of ejaculate“ was directed at another one. But we should stop being offended and recognize you as a reasonable poster and you think this is all boring so you announce (again) to stop this conversation — and then you end your post with alluding to another „waste of ejaculate“-joke you just don’t really want to make because you’re so… reasonable.

You just made the case against yourself, „TheAvenger“.

This is totally how well adjusted adults talk people.

How do I block people on this forum? I never have.

EDIT: Nevermind, figured it out.

WTF ?

Wise & clever decision. No nomination for much-much better music from OHMSS, no nomination for this ... Can't find right word, which not be too rude.

I purchased this based upon posters reviews. After taking a break from it I listened to it again and I find it boring. Barry gave each Bond score a unique sound that reflected each movie. This just sounds like Zimmer and I like Zimmer! Well some of his scores. The references to Barry’s scores just remind me how good they are and I want to listen to them, not this. Maybe if I saw the movie I would have more appreciation of this score.

This makes me kind of shudder.

This - along with Die Another Day and Another Time to Die - are the worst title songs in Bond history. This one manages to be both bad AND depressing. Perhaps it's winning awards for *that* achievement!

Why are you surprised? It's a good score, but it's not that good.

Not only is it not the best score of the year, it's not even the best Hans Zimmer score of the year.

Nominating it would, in my opinion, simply have shown the nominations to be a popularity contest rather than a merit contest.

Dune got nominated, and that's as it should be.

Cheers

The Baftas, like the Oscars are just the sum of a set of opinions. The whole exercise is about selling product or virtue signalling by the great and the good of the industry.

One of my favourite scores of the year was 'Last Night In Soho' by Steven Price and it's nowhere to be seen, but it's OK. I can enjoy the film and the album without my opinion being confirmed by Bafta members. Yes, I enjoyed it when Skyfall won best score at Bafta in 2012 and when John Barry got his fellowship in 2005 but ultimately it's all a hollow exercise.

Regarding No Time To Die, how much of it was actually composed by Team Zimmer? Take away, the Barry composed cues + The James Bond Theme+ the instrumental use of the Elish song and there is quite a mixture of composers in there. However, I'm not aware of the rules regarding nomination in Best score category.

At best the Baftas can be considered as a bit of fun on Sunday prime time TV.

But this is an English movie & and English award-show.
Dune, isn't.

Clearly, we’re not that parochial.

I agree with Spymaster, and would add it's a very boring song! Just about any Barry Bond song is better and didn't get any awards, or at least very few awards.

I also agree with Spymaster & henry - giving this song any award doesn't make it good song.
By the way, I never heard about almost any of this awards before this day....
