"I knew what he was, but I never knew why."
Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers (2-CD) Expanded Theatrical And Producers Cut Soundtracks - Alan Howarth

The sixth installment of the ongoing Halloween franchise was released in theaters 25 years ago today. This is somewhat the last film in this continuity since H20 ignored 4-6, obviously Rob Zombies remake and sequel is it’s own thing that isn’t connected to any of the previous films, and H40 ignored each film aside from John Carpenter's 1978 original. Anyways both versions of the score during the Cult of Thorn moments are very reminiscent of Howarth and Carpenter’s gothic score to John Carpenter’s Prince Of Darkness. I enjoy both versions of the score, which is an interesting experiment where the same composer alters his score for two different cuts of the same movie. However, I think I prefer the score to the Producer’s cut (which I still haven‘t seen) because it was a change of pace but at the same keeping the essence of prior Halloween scores. The score to the theatrical cut (which I have seen) feels somewhat of a compromise and streamlined of his original intentions of the Producer’s cut in comparison. And obviously it‘s due to the film being re-shot and re-edited.

Also one more day till October and everyone knows what that means? Right Thor?
