" No man... that ain't what I heard at all. I heard that the Bat got him." Batman (1989) [Motion Picture Soundtrack] - Prince
" Batman... Batman... Can somebody tell me what kind of a world we live in, where a man dressed up as a bat gets all of my press? This town needs an enema!" Batman (1989) [Expanded Archival Collection (2010 Edition) & Elfman/Burton 25th Anniversary Music Box Edit] - Danny Elfman
This childhood favorite of mine, which spawned one of the greatest superhero themes/scores of all time, was released in theaters 30 years ago today.
OBSESSION (500 EDITION) - music by Bernard HERRMANN
@ replicant006: Second spin. I can't say there is much of a difference of the notable variety. I've checked with two separate headphones. Anybody else here have heard the remastered edition?
On the other and, Herrmann and thus "instant purchase".

@ Advise & Consent: Thanks so much for the comparison! I'm very happy with the 2-disc release so will probably pass on this one.
And you're right, Herrmann does warrant that "instant purchase".
What's that DR. WHO box, murph? That must have passed me by, looks ridiculously lavish!
It was a box produced by Silva Screen in 2014 for the 50th anniversary, albeit one year late. There were 11 discs - one for each of the (then) seasons - in a wooden TARDIS that played the de-materialisation effect when you opened it!
I think they produced as many as were pre-ordered and no more. It's probably one of the few really limited editions I have but I couldn't resist it at the time. It's a bit hit and miss over all 11 discs as might be expected, but has enough high points overall to keep dipping back in.
I was listening to the John Debney score to the movie today, but my favourites are probably the first two seasons where the early electronics are part music, part sound effects. That was a bit of a surprise for me, but I suspect that you'd have been more familiar with those!
"Simba, let me tell you something my father told me. Look at the stars. The great kings of the past look down on us from those stars." The Lion King (1994) [2-CD]: The Legacy Collection - Hans Zimmer
"You'd be doing me a favor if you called me Wyatt or Earp, but not both." Wyatt Earp (3-CD) Expanded Archival Collection - James Newton Howard
Both movies were released in theaters 25 years ago today. Like I mentioned before about The Lion King I doubt the unnecessary remake/score will surpass the original. No matter how hard they tried.
